Cool Environments. Gentle Hydration. The Complete DIY Greenhouse Misting Solution.

Maintaining the perfect climate inside a greenhouse is critical for seed starting, propagation, and growing tropical plants. The Greenhouse Misting Kit is a comprehensive, easy-to-install DIY solution designed to automatically deliver a fine, gentle mist from above. By deploying an overhead watering system, you not only hydrate delicate seedlings without washing out their soil, but you also create an evaporative cooling effect that drops the ambient temperature on hot summer days.

This kit includes everything you need to set up a professional-grade misting system in a standard backyard greenhouse (up to 10' x 20'). The kit utilizes our ½” Polyethylene Mainline Tubing, which you suspend from your greenhouse rafters. High-quality misting emitters simply plug directly into the mainline to spray downward, ensuring even coverage over your benches and flats. The system requires no glue or special plumbing skills—our signature Easy Loc fittings push and twist to create a watertight seal in seconds.

Because greenhouse environments often require frequent, short bursts of water, we highly recommend pairing this system with a misting-capable timer. Furthermore, since you’ll likely need to hand-water or clean pots, adding a Brass Y-Splitter to your order is a great Pro Tip, allowing your misting system and a standard garden hose to operate independently from the same faucet.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

This overhead system connects easily to your existing outdoor hose faucet or a dedicated greenhouse spigot.

Step 1: Build The Header
If you are using a timer (sold separately), attach your Timer to the water source first. Next, screw on the included Home Garden Filter, followed by the 30 PSI Pressure Regulator, and finish with the Easy Loc Female Hose Start. This complete assembly is known as the "Header."

Step 2: Suspend the Mainline Tubing
Run the 1/2" Mainline Tubing from the Header up to the ceiling or rafters of your greenhouse. Secure the tubing overhead above your benches using pipe straps or zip ties (not included). Use the included Easy Loc Tees and Elbows to branch the tubing down different aisles. Cap the ends using the Figure 8 Ends.

Step 3: Punch Holes & Insert Misters
Using the included Key Punch, pierce a hole in the bottom of the suspended 1/2" Mainline directly above the areas you wish to water. Snap the barbed end of the misters securely into the punched holes. The misters should point directly downward toward your plants.

Step 4: Test & Adjust
Turn on the water and check the spray pattern. If a mister is slightly off-target, you can rotate the tubing. If you punched a hole in the wrong spot, simply plug it with one of the included Goof Plugs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do you cool a greenhouse in the summer?
Using an automated overhead misting system is one of the most effective ways to lower greenhouse temperatures. As the fine mist droplets evaporate in the hot air, they absorb heat, creating an evaporative cooling effect that can drop temperatures by 10 to 15 degrees while raising necessary humidity levels.

Is this system good for seed starting?
Yes. The misters emit a gentle, umbrella-like spray that won't dislodge tiny seeds or wash away delicate propagation soil. It provides the consistent, light moisture seedlings need to thrive.

Can I use a timer with this kit?
Absolutely, and it is highly recommended. Because misters output water quickly, greenhouses usually require short watering cycles (e.g., 1 minute every hour). We recommend attaching a high-quality battery-operated hose timer to your faucet before the filter.

What is the difference between drip emitters and misters?
Drip emitters release water slowly directly into the soil at the base of a plant. Misters spray a fine fog or rain into the air over a broad area, making them perfect for covering entire trays of seedlings, increasing humidity, and cooling foliage.

Is it expandable?
Yes. The 1/2" mainline tubing in this kit can handle up to 200 total feet of length and approximately 200-220 gallons per hour of water flow. You can easily expand your system by purchasing additional 1/2" Mainline and snapping in extra misters to cover new benches or an extended greenhouse structure.

"Saved my seedlings this summer"

"I hooked up the DripWorks misting kit to a Galcon timer to run for 2 minutes every hour during the peak afternoon heat. Not only did it keep my seed trays perfectly moist, but the temp inside my hoop house dropped a noticeable 10 degrees. Absolute game changer."

"Stupid simple to put together"

"I am terrible at DIY plumbing, but the push-in fittings on this kit are foolproof. Ran the tubing along my center beam, punched holes every 3 feet, and popped the misters in. Took less than an hour from box to full mist."

✔ Compatibility Check

Before you buy, check your setup:

  • Water Source: Must be a standard outdoor hose faucet (Garden Hose Thread) capable of at least 30 PSI.
  • Structure: Requires a solid overhead frame, rafters, or wire system in your greenhouse to suspend the 1/2" tubing.
  • Timer Not Included: This kit does not come with a timer. If automating, ensure you purchase a timer capable of multiple short-duration cycles per day.

Complete Your System

Enhance your misting system with these recommended components:

  • Galcon Bluetooth Timer: A high-quality timer perfect for programming the short, frequent watering bursts greenhouses require.
  • Brass Y-Splitter: Keep your garden hose accessible for hand-watering while your misting system runs automatically.
  • 1/2" Coupler with Valve: Install inline to manually shut off misting to specific benches or sections of your greenhouse.
