Description

Extend Your 1/2" Drip Conversion. More Garden, Same Sprinkler Head.

Already running the 1/2" Sprinkler-to-Drip Conversion Kit (KCV2) and need more coverage? The 1/2" Conversion Kit Add-On (KCVA2) is the purpose-built expansion kit for the KCV2, allowing you to double your drip layout from the same converted pop-up sprinkler head — no new zones, no new lines, no digging. Everything you need to extend your 1/2" mainline and push drip coverage further into a larger bed, border garden, or planting area is included in one kit.

This add-on mirrors the structure of the KCV2 base kit: it supplies an additional 50' roll of 1/2" mainline tubing for extending your distribution backbone, a 100' roll of 1/4" poly micro tubing for branching to individual plant zones, and 200' of 1/4" soaker dripline (2 x 100' rolls at 12" emitter spacing, 1/2 GPH) for ground-level delivery directly to the root zone. All the necessary fittings — tees, elbows, transfer barbs, goof plugs — are included, along with both 1/2" and 1/4" hold-downs to secure tubing at the surface.

This is not a standalone product. It is designed exclusively as an add-on to the KCV2 base kit, which provides the filter/pressure regulator unit, riser connection, hose shutoff, and all hardware needed to connect to your existing sprinkler head. If you are looking for an add-on compatible with the 8-Way Sprinkler-to-Drip Conversion Kit (KCV1), see the 8-Way Conversion Kit Add-On (KCVA1) instead.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which base kit is this add-on designed for?
The KCVA2 is designed specifically as an expansion for the 1/2" Sprinkler-to-Drip Conversion Kit (KCV2). It includes 1/2" mainline tubing and the matching fittings and hold-downs to extend the KCV2's layout. If you are running the 8-Way Conversion Kit (KCV1) instead, use the 8-Way Conversion Kit Add-On (KCVA1).

Can I use this add-on without the KCV2 base kit?
No — the KCVA2 is not a standalone system. It does not include a filter/pressure regulator unit or the riser hardware needed to connect to your sprinkler head. These are provided by the KCV2 base kit, which must be installed and operational first.

How does the 1/2" mainline tubing work in this system?
The 1/2" polyethylene mainline tubing is the distribution backbone of the KCV2 system. Water flows from the converted sprinkler head through the filter/regulator and into the 1/2" mainline, which carries it across the planting area. From there, 1/4" micro tubing and soaker dripline branch off the mainline to deliver water directly to individual plant root zones. This add-on gives you an additional 50' of mainline to extend that backbone further into your garden.

What is the difference between the 1/4" poly micro tubing and the 1/4" soaker dripline?
The 1/4" polyethylene micro tubing is solid, non-emitting tubing used to carry water from the 1/2" mainline to a specific planting location. The 1/4" soaker dripline has pre-installed emitters every 12 inches that deliver water at 1/2 GPH each, making it ideal for running across a bed to water multiple plants along a row.

What are the goof plugs used for?
Goof plugs seal off any 1/4" barbed outlet or hole that is no longer in use — for example, if you punch a hole in the wrong spot or need to cap off a branch line. They're an essential troubleshooting and maintenance component for any 1/4" drip system.

Will my water pressure support the additional lines?
The KCV2 base kit includes a filter/pressure regulator combo unit (FPR17) rated to a maximum of 60 PSI. The 1/4" soaker dripline runs at a very low flow rate (1/2 GPH per emitter), so adding additional drip lines off the same system places minimal demand on pressure. That said, make sure your total flow demand across all lines does not exceed the capacity of your water source at the converted sprinkler head.

Can I automate watering with this system?
Yes. Pairing your converted sprinkler-to-drip system with an irrigation timer allows fully automated watering schedules. DripWorks carries a wide selection of battery-operated and AC-powered timers compatible with hose-thread connections.

Is this kit suitable for vegetable gardens, raised beds, and border gardens?
Absolutely. The slow, targeted delivery of the soaker dripline (1/2 GPH per emitter at 12" spacing) is ideal for vegetable beds, herb gardens, raised beds, and densely planted border areas. Converting an overhead sprinkler zone to low-flow drip irrigation is one of the most effective ways to reduce water use — particularly important in drought-prone regions across the western U.S. — while improving plant health through consistent, root-level moisture.

⚠ Important: Add-On Kit — Not a Standalone Product

The KCVA2 Add-On is designed exclusively to expand the KCV2 base kit and requires it to be installed and operational before use:

This add-on does not include a filter/pressure regulator unit, riser connection, thread sealant tape, Easy Loc couplers, end caps, or a pocket punch. These are all provided in the KCV2 base kit. Looking for an add-on for the KCV1 instead? See the 8-Way Conversion Kit Add-On (KCVA1).

✔ Before You Install — Compatibility Check

  • Base Kit Required: Confirm you have the KCV2 installed. This add-on extends your existing 1/2" mainline — no new sprinkler head tap or zone valve needed.
  • Water Pressure: Your KCV2's filter/pressure regulator combo (FPR17) is rated to a maximum of 60 PSI. Do not exceed this at the supply source.
  • Flow Demand: The soaker dripline delivers 1/2 GPH per emitter at 12" spacing. Calculate total emitter count across all lines to ensure your flow capacity is sufficient.
  • Tubing Routing: Use the included 1/2" U-shaped wire hold-downs (SUHD-10) to secure your mainline and the 1/4" hold-downs (SS3-10) to pin micro tubing and soaker dripline flat against the ground.
