One of the greatest advantages of our Soaker Dripline is its incredible versatility across different water sources. It performs beautifully on standard municipal systems equipped with a pressure regulator, but it is also engineered to work exceptionally well with gravity-fed and low-pressure systems like rain barrels. Simply punch a hole in your 1/2" mainline tubing, insert a transfer barb, and run the 1/4" dripline directly to the base of your plants.

Install your 1/4" Soaker Dripline quickly and correctly.
Step 1: Punch the Mainline
Use a standard irrigation punch tool to make a clean 1/4" hole in your 1/2" or 3/4" solid mainline tubing exactly where you want the soaker line to begin.
Step 2: Insert the Transfer Fitting
Press a 1/4" transfer barb (or a 1/4" micro-flow valve if you want individual line shut-off) into the punched hole on the mainline, then push the beginning of your Soaker Dripline onto the other side of the barb.
Step 3: Route and Pin the Tubing
Weave the 1/4" Soaker Dripline around the base of your plants or through your vegetable rows. Use U-shaped or J-shaped wire hold downs every few feet to firmly secure the tubing to the soil. Crucial: Do not exceed the maximum run length of 25 feet for a single line!
Step 4: Cap the End
Cut the tubing at your desired length (under 25 feet) and push a 1/4" goof plug into the open end to seal the line and force water out through the inline emitters.
Why is the maximum run length exactly 25 feet?
The 25-foot maximum run length is determined by the friction loss inside the narrow 1/4" tubing combined with the volume of water exiting the 9" spaced emitters.
If you exceed 25 feet on a single continuous line, the water pressure will drop too low, and the emitters at the very end of the line will not output any water. If you need more coverage, simply punch another hole in your mainline and start a new 25-foot run.
Can I use this with a gravity-fed rain barrel?
Yes, our 1/4" Soaker Dripline is highly recommended for gravity-fed and low-pressure systems.
Because it is not pressure-compensating, water will readily flow out of the emitters even at very low PSI, making it ideal for eco-friendly rain catchment setups. (Expect a lower GPH output at lower pressures).
What is the easiest way to insert the 1/4" fittings into the tubing?
While the polyethylene tubing is quite flexible and can be assembled by hand, we highly recommend using the Miracle Insert Tool.

Does this tubing need a water filter?
Yes, you should always install an irrigation filter on your mainline when using any micro-drip products.
Because the internal pathways of the pre-installed inline emitters are very small, grit, sediment, or algae from your water source can easily clog them if a filter is not present.
