Description

Overhead Humidity Control for Seedlings & Propagation

Perfect your spring propagation environment with the Press-Fit Tornado Misters (5-Pack). Unlike standard threaded emitters, this specialized press-fit version is engineered explicitly for inverted (overhead) installations. Producing a gentle, highly uniform 140-micron droplet, it is the ultimate tool for boosting humidity in greenhouses and providing constant, non-destructive surface moisture to fragile seedlings and rooting clones. For those building a completely new setup, these professional-grade misters are the driving force behind our popular all-in-one Greenhouse Misting Kit (KGRN). By combining these misters with the appropriate press-fit adapters and anti-drip devices, you can build a flawless overhead irrigation network in either poly tubing or rigid PVC.

Why Choose the Press-Fit Tornado Mister?
  • Inverted Design: Specifically manufactured to hang upside down from overhead lines, ensuring an even, umbrella-like distribution over your propagation benches.
  • Optimal 140-Micron Droplets: The fine mist provides the high ambient humidity required for seed starting without washing away topsoil or drowning delicate plants.
  • Wide Operating Range: Operates efficiently across a broad 20 to 60 PSI pressure range, making it highly adaptable to various greenhouse setups.
  • Friction-Fit Security: The smooth press-fit base is designed to connect seamlessly with standard anti-drip valves and bridge couplers for a fast, glue-free assembly.
Technical Specifications & Flow Rates

Review the exact performance metrics to integrate these misters into your overhead climate system.

  • Operating Pressure Range: 20 to 60 PSI
  • Average Droplet Size: 140 Microns
  • Connection Type: Press-Fit (Friction Fit) Base
  • Orientation: Designed for inverted (overhead) installation
System Pressure (PSI) Flow Rate (GPH)
20 PSI 4.0 GPH
40 PSI 5.5 GPH
How to Install the Press-Fit Tornado Mister

Because these misters hang overhead, using an anti-drip device is highly recommended to protect your plants when the system turns off. Follow the steps for your pipe material.

For Installation into Poly Tubing:

Step 1: Use a DripWorks punch tool to make a clean 1/4" hole in your overhead poly tubing.

Step 2: Assemble the press-fit components. Connect the threaded end of an Anti-Drip Device (MEAD) directly to the base of the Press-Fit Tornado Mister.

Step 3: Connect the smooth press-fit side of the Anti-Drip Device into a Press-Fit Barb (MEBARB).

Step 4: Push the barbed end of your fully assembled unit upward into the punched hole in the poly tubing until it snaps securely.

For Installation into PVC Pipe:

Step 1: Drill a 7/16" hole into your 3/4" or larger PVC pipe using a specialized grommet drill bit (GROMDRILL) to prevent shattering.

Step 2: Insert a rubber Anti-Drip Grommet (MEGRO) completely into the drilled hole.

Step 3: Use a Press-Fit Coupler (MECPL) to bridge the connection between the Anti-Drip Device (MEAD) and the Press-Fit Tornado Mister.

Step 4: Thread the assembled Anti-Drip Device firmly into the rubber grommet for a watertight seal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Press-Fit Tornado Mister good for spring greenhouse propagation?
Yes, the Press-Fit Tornado Mister is specifically designed for spring propagation. When installed overhead, it delivers a gentle, highly uniform 140-micron mist that creates the high-humidity environment seeds and clones need to thrive.

Can I insert the Press-Fit Tornado Mister directly into my poly tubing?
No, the press-fit version has a smooth base and cannot be inserted directly into supply lines. You must use compatible press-fit adapter components (like the MEBARB or MECPL) to connect it to your tubing.

What is the difference between the threaded and Press-Fit Tornado Misters?
The threaded version is designed to spray upward from a rigid stake or riser. The Press-Fit Tornado Mister is designed exclusively for inverted (overhead) installations, spraying downward onto propagation tables.

What water pressure is required for the Press-Fit Tornado Misters?
The Press-Fit Tornado Misters operate effectively across a broad pressure range from 20 to 60 PSI, allowing for flexibility in your greenhouse irrigation design.

✔ Compatibility Check

Please note the strict installation requirements for this component:

  • Adapters Required: This mister cannot be attached to a pipe on its own. You must purchase the appropriate press-fit adapters (see the "Complete Your System" section below) to link this mister to your poly or PVC supply lines.
  • Anti-Drip Recommendation: Because these are mounted upside down, using an Anti-Drip Device (MEAD) is highly recommended to prevent water from draining heavily onto your seedlings after the system shuts off.

Complete Your System

Ensure your overhead propagation system operates flawlessly by adding these necessary adapter components:

  • Anti-Drip Device (MEAD): Instantly seals the overhead line when the system shuts down, preventing crop damage. Highly recommended for this inverted mister.
  • Press-Fit Barb (MEBARB): The required adapter that connects the Anti-Drip Device directly into punched poly tubing.
  • Press-Fit Coupler (MECPL): The required adapter to connect the mister to the anti-drip valve when utilizing a rigid PVC pipe installation.
  • Rubber Grommet (MEGRO): The required watertight seal for mounting your assembled unit into hard PVC pipe.
