Description

Flexible, Economical Drip Watering for Standard Spacing

The 1/4" Soaker Dripline with 12" Spacing from DripWorks provides an economical, highly versatile way to deliver water precisely to the root zones of a vast variety of plants. Made from durable yet highly pliable polyethylene, this 1/4-inch micro-tubing features highly efficient inline emitters factory-installed every 12 inches. This standard emitter spacing is ideal for evenly watering vegetable garden rows, winding through lush flower beds and borders, wrapping around trees or shrubs, and configuring extensive raised bed layouts.

One of the greatest advantages of our 1/4" Soaker Dripline is its incredible flexibility across different environments and water sources. Its 12-inch spacing drastically reduces friction loss inside the tubing, allowing you to run single lines up to an impressive 34 feet long. It performs beautifully on standard municipal systems equipped with a pressure regulator, but it is also engineered to work exceptionally well with gravity-fed and low-pressure systems like rain barrels. Simply punch a hole in your 1/2" mainline tubing, insert a transfer barb, and run the dripline directly to the base of your plants.

Why Choose 1/4" Soaker Dripline (12" Spacing)?
  • Extended Run Lengths: The 12-inch spacing minimizes friction loss, allowing you to run continuous single lines up to 34 feet long.
  • Highly Flexible: The soft polyethylene construction easily navigates sharp corners, weaves through dense foliage, and loops perfectly into tree rings.
  • Low-Pressure Friendly: Exceptionally versatile design allows it to function beautifully on gravity-fed water tanks and rain catchment systems.
  • Easy to Install: Connects effortlessly to 1/2" or 3/4" mainline tubing using standard 1/4" transfer barbs or micro-flow valves.
  • Economical: An incredibly cost-effective way to blanket vegetable rows and borders with water compared to installing individual punch-in emitters.
Technical Specifications

Detailed specifications for system planning. Note: Flow rate is measured in gallons per hour (GPH) and varies based on your system's operating pressure.

How to Set Up: A Step-by-Step Guide

Install your 1/4" Soaker Dripline quickly and correctly.

Step 1: Punch the Mainline
Use a standard irrigation punch tool to make a clean 1/4" hole in your 1/2" or 3/4" solid mainline tubing exactly where you want the soaker line to begin.

Step 2: Insert the Transfer Fitting
Press a 1/4" transfer barb (or a 1/4" micro-flow valve if you want individual line shut-off) into the punched hole on the mainline, then push the beginning of your Soaker Dripline onto the other side of the barb.

Step 3: Route and Pin the Tubing
Weave the 1/4" Soaker Dripline around the base of your plants or down your vegetable rows. Use U-shaped or J-shaped wire hold downs every few feet to firmly secure the tubing to the soil. Crucial: Do not exceed the maximum run length of 34 feet for a single line!

Step 4: Cap the End
Cut the tubing at your desired length (under 34 feet) and push a 1/4" goof plug into the open end to seal the line and force water out through the inline emitters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the maximum run length exactly 34 feet?
The 34-foot maximum run length is determined by the friction loss inside the narrow 1/4" tubing combined with the volume of water exiting the 12" spaced emitters.

If you exceed 34 feet on a single continuous line, the water pressure will drop too low, and the emitters at the very end of the line will not output any water. If you need more coverage, simply punch another hole in your mainline and start a new 34-foot run.

Can I use this with a gravity-fed rain barrel?
Yes, our 1/4" Soaker Dripline is highly recommended for gravity-fed and low-pressure systems.

Because it is not pressure-compensating, water will readily flow out of the emitters even at very low PSI, making it ideal for eco-friendly rain catchment setups. (Expect a lower GPH output at lower pressures).

What is the easiest way to insert the 1/4" fittings into the tubing?
While the polyethylene tubing is quite flexible and can be assembled by hand, we highly recommend using the Miracle Insert Tool.

This specialized hand tool gives you incredible leverage to effortlessly pop 1/4" transfer barbs and goof plugs into the tubing, saving your thumbs from fatigue during large installations.

Does this tubing need a water filter?
Yes, you should always install an irrigation filter on your mainline when using any micro-drip products.

Because the internal pathways of the pre-installed inline emitters are very small, grit, sediment, or algae from your water source can easily clog them if a filter is not present.

✔ Compatibility & Design Check

Please note the design parameters for this 1/4" tubing:

  • Strict 34-Foot Limit: Do not run a single, continuous strand of this tubing longer than 34 feet. Run multiple shorter strands from a larger 1/2" mainline instead.
  • Flow Fluctuates with Pressure: This tubing is not pressure-compensating (PC). The output rate of the emitters will change depending on your system's PSI.
  • Requires 1/4" Fittings: Must be used with standard 1/4" barbed fittings, tees, and goof plugs.

Complete Your System

Ensure your raised beds and containers are ready to thrive with these required components:

  • 1/4" Transfer Barbs: The essential, low-cost fitting required to connect the beginning of your 1/4" Soaker Dripline to your 1/2" mainline.
  • 1/4" Goof Plugs: Required to plug and seal off the end of your 34-foot soaker lines, forcing the water out through the inline emitters.
  • U-Shaped Hold Downs: Keep your flexible tubing pinned securely to the soil precisely where you want it.
  • Miracle Insert Tool: Save your hands! This tool provides incredible leverage for inserting small 1/4" barbs and plugs into the tubing.
  • 1/2" Mainline Tubing: The larger supply pipe that acts as the primary water delivery artery for your 1/4" soaker lines.
