Description

Targeted Under-Canopy Watering with Individual Shut-Off

Deliver precise hydration directly to the root zone with the Teco Down Spray 45° PC Assembly (25 Pack). Unlike traditional micro-sprinklers that throw water high into the air, this specialized emitter features a 45-degree downward trajectory. This keeps the water low, ensuring the foliage of your plants stays dry to prevent fungal diseases while drastically reducing water loss from wind drift.

What sets this assembly apart is the built-in shut-off clip and the pressure-compensating (PC) internal diaphragm. The PC feature guarantees that every sprayer on your line outputs the exact same amount of water, regardless of elevation changes or distance from the water source. If a plant is removed or harvested early, simply slide the integrated clip to pinch off the flow without having to dismantle your setup. These assemblies easily push onto standard 1/4" micro tubing, making them a top choice for orchards, large container pots, and dense garden beds.

Why Choose the Teco 45° Down Spray?
  • Downward Trajectory: The targeted 45-degree spray angle keeps water on the soil and off the leaves, minimizing evaporation and protecting against mildew.
  • Built-In Shut-Off Clip: Easily stop water flow to an individual emitter without needing to cut the line, install a separate valve, or remove the sprayer.
  • Pressure Compensating (PC): Ensures 100% uniform watering across your entire system, even on sloped terrain or long lateral runs.
  • Color-Coded Flow Rates: Easily identify your water output at a glance (Blue for 10.5 GPH, Green for 14.5 GPH, Red for 20.5 GPH).
  • Bulk Pack Value: Sold in convenient packs of 25 to easily outfit entire rows or large container gardens.

How to Install

A quick guide to deploying your sprayers.

Step 1: Connect to Micro Tubing
Push the barbed end of the Teco Down Spray Assembly directly into a length of 1/4" micro tubing. The tubing will seat securely over the barb without the need for glue.

Step 2: Mount on a Stake
To keep the sprayer elevated and prevent it from dragging in the dirt, clip the assembly onto a rigid plastic or metal drip irrigation stake positioned near the base of your plant.

Step 3: Connect to Mainline
Use a punch tool to create a hole in your 1/2" or 3/4" poly mainline. Insert a 1/4" transfer barb into the hole, and attach the other end of your micro tubing to the barb.

Step 4: Operate the Shut-Off Clip
If you need to stop watering a specific plant, simply slide the small plastic shut-off clip down over the micro tubing just below the sprayer to securely pinch off the water flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the downward spray pattern of the Teco Down Spray 45° PC help during hot summer days?
The targeted 45-degree downward angle keeps the water stream low to the ground. This drastically reduces wind drift and mid-air evaporation during summer heat waves, ensuring more water reaches your plant's root zone.

Traditional micro-sprinklers that spray upward can lose a significant amount of water to the hot summer air before it even hits the soil. Downward sprayers maximize watering efficiency.

What is the purpose of the shut-off clip on the Teco Down Spray 45° PC?
The built-in shut-off clip allows you to instantly stop water flow to an individual emitter without removing it from the line. This is ideal when rotating crops, harvesting early, or removing a dead plant.

Instead of plugging the mainline hole or removing the 1/4" tubing entirely, you can just pinch the line shut until you are ready to put a new plant in that location.

Are the Teco Down Spray 45° PC emitters pressure compensating?
Yes, these emitters feature a pressure-compensating diaphragm. This ensures that every Teco Down Spray on your line delivers the exact same amount of water, regardless of elevation changes or distance from the water source.

Pressure compensation is highly recommended if your garden is planted on a hillside or if you are running exceptionally long lateral lines, as it prevents the plants at the end of the line from being underwatered.

How do I connect the Teco Down Spray 45° PC to my irrigation system?
This assembly is designed to push directly into standard 1/4-inch micro tubing. You can then route that micro tubing back to a 1/2-inch poly mainline, securing the spray jet near your plant using a stake.

Because these output higher flow rates (10.5 to 20.5 GPH), be sure to calculate your total zone flow to ensure your mainline can supply enough water to run all of your sprayers simultaneously.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure you have the right components for installation:

  • Tubing Required: These assemblies feature a barbed connection that requires standard 1/4" micro tubing.
  • Mounting Hardware: These emitters do not have built-in stakes. You will need separate rigid stakes to hold them upright.
  • Filtration: Like all micro-irrigation products, a minimum 150 mesh filter should be installed at your water source to prevent clogging.

Complete Your System

Ensure your orchard or garden bed is fully equipped with these recommended installation accessories:

  • 1/4" Micro Tubing: The essential feeder line needed to route water from your mainline to the spray assembly.
  • 1/4" Transfer Barbs: Connect your micro tubing directly to your 1/2" or 3/4" poly mainline.
  • Punch Tools: Required to cleanly puncture your poly mainline to insert your transfer barbs.
