Spring Garden: May Garden Checklist For Zones 4-5
May 7th 2026
Meet one of our absolute best-sellers for establishing new spring landscapes. The DripWorks Spectrum™ Sprayer delivers an adaptable, full-circle umbrella pattern that can be perfectly tailored to your garden's changing needs. When planting young saplings or large perennials, simply turn the wetting area down to concentrate water at the fragile root ball. As your plants mature over the seasons, twist the cap to enlarge the spray pattern up to an impressive 11-foot diameter. Easily integrated into your system using 1/4" micro tubing, this versatile emitter eliminates the need to constantly swap out hardware as your garden grows.
Review the exact performance metrics to integrate the Spectrum™ into your irrigation layout.
| System Pressure (PSI) | Maximum Flow Rate (GPH) | Maximum Radius (Feet) |
|---|---|---|
| 15 PSI | 17 GPH | 4.5 Feet |
| 20 PSI | 20 GPH | 5.5 Feet |
| 30 PSI | 24 GPH | 6.0 Feet |
Follow these simple steps to install the popular staked version of the Spectrum™ Sprayer.
Step 1: Prep the Mainline
Using a DripWorks punch tool, create a clean hole in your 1/2-inch or 3/4-inch poly mainline tubing near the plant you want to water.
Step 2: Snap Off the Barb
Locate the small 1/4-inch transfer barb physically molded onto the side of the Spectrum's stake. Snap it off to use as your mainline connector.
Step 3: Connect Micro Tubing
Push the transfer barb into the punched hole on your mainline. Attach one end of a piece of 1/4-inch micro tubing to that barb, and attach the other end to the inlet barb on the Spectrum stake.
Step 4: Stake and Adjust
Push the stake securely into the soil. Turn on your irrigation system, and twist the sprayer's cap counter-clockwise to widen the umbrella pattern or clockwise to tighten the flow to the plant's base.
Is the DripWorks Spectrum Sprayer good for watering new spring trees?
Yes, the DripWorks Spectrum Sprayer is perfect for new spring trees. You can turn the wetting area down for young roots and expand the umbrella spray up to an 11-foot diameter as the tree matures.
This eliminates the need to replace or add more emitters as your trees and large perennials grow over the seasons.
How do I adjust the flow on the DripWorks Spectrum Sprayer?
You can easily adjust the flow and radius by twisting the top cap. Rotate it to enlarge the spray pattern up to a 6-foot radius, or dial it down to suit smaller perennials and shrubs.
Does the staked DripWorks Spectrum Sprayer include a connector barb?
Yes, the staked version of the Spectrum Sprayer includes a convenient break-off transfer barb molded into the stake. Simply snap it off to connect your 1/4-inch micro tubing to your mainline.
How do I clean the DripWorks Spectrum Sprayer if it clogs?
The Spectrum Sprayer features no moving parts and is designed for easy maintenance. Simply twist and remove the top cap to quickly flush out any sediment or debris, restoring perfect flow.
