Keep Your MixRite Injector Running with OEM Replacement Pistons & Seal Kits

Lip seals and pistons are the primary wear items on any DEMA MixRite fertilizer injector, and periodic replacement is a normal part of routine maintenance. DripWorks carries genuine replacement piston and seal kits for the 2%, 4%, and 10% MixRite models. Select the kit that matches the specific MixRite model you own. Each seal kit includes: two replacement piston seals, one replacement suction seal, silicone seal lubricant, and an instruction booklet.

How do you know it's time to replace? When your MixRite injector pump begins to "stutter," fails to operate at low flow rates where it previously worked fine, stops drawing fertilizer from the tank, or draws it irregularly — it is time to service the seals. According to DEMA's official maintenance guidelines, lip seals should be replaced periodically as a normal wear item to extend the lifespan of the dosing pump.

A replacement intake strainer (for 2% and 4% models) is also available separately. For additional upkeep, browse all MixRite parts and accessories including replacement plastic springs.

When to Replace: Troubleshooting Signs
  • Pump stutters or runs unevenly: Damaged piston seals are the most common cause — replace the piston seal kit.
  • Injector doesn't work at low flow rates: Worn piston seals reduce pumping efficiency at lower water flows.
  • MixRite stops drawing fertilizer (or draws irregularly): The suction seal is likely worn and needs replacement.
  • Scratching or grinding noises: Inspect for a defective suction seal or foreign particles in the pump cylinder.
Maintenance Tips from DEMA

Following DEMA's official maintenance guidelines will help maximize the service life of your MixRite injector and its seals:

  • Always use a 120-mesh (130-micron) filter upstream of the MixRite inlet. This prevents particles from reaching and abrading the internal seals prematurely.
  • Regularly clean the suction screen filter on the intake strainer to maintain consistent draw.
  • Rinse the unit before extended downtime. If the injector will be out of use for a long period, run the suction tube in clean water for a few minutes to flush out any fertilizer or chemical residue that could solidify inside the pump.
  • Winterize properly. If temperatures will drop below 39°F (4°C), drain all water from the pump to prevent freeze damage to seals and internal components.
  • Lubricate O-rings when reassembling the suction check valve to ensure a proper seal and prevent premature wear.
Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which kit to order?
Select the piston or seal kit that corresponds to your MixRite model's injection rate — 2%, 4%, or 10%. The injection rate percentage is printed on the label of your unit.

Can I use acids or corrosive chemicals with standard MixRite seals?
No. Acids, caustics, and abrasives should not be used with standard MixRite injectors or their seals unless your specific MixRite model (such as the internal bypass model) is explicitly rated for those chemicals.

Are O-rings and seals covered under warranty?
No. Per DEMA's warranty policy, rubber and synthetic rubber parts including O-rings, diaphragms, and gaskets are considered expendable wear items and are not covered under the standard one-year warranty.

✔ Important Compatibility Note

Piston and seal kits are model-specific. Always verify your MixRite's injection rate (2%, 4%, or 10%) before ordering. If you are unsure which model you have, check the label on your unit or contact our team for assistance.
