Description

Instant Tape Repair. Secure Extension.

The Tape Loc Coupler is the industry-standard fitting for joining two lengths of 5/8" drip tape or repairing a damaged section of line. Whether you've accidentally cut your tape with a shovel or need to extend your vegetable rows for the new season, this coupler provides a permanent, leak-proof connection that is significantly more reliable than standard friction-fit barbs.

By utilizing a specialized mechanical locking mechanism, this coupler ensures a blowout-proof seal even as water temperatures fluctuate and the tape softens. It is a fundamental component among professional irrigation fittings for market gardens, vineyards, and commercial row crop operations where system integrity is paramount to crop health.

Why Choose Tape Loc Technology?
  • Tool-Free Repair: Fix leaks in seconds. Simply cut out the damaged section and slide the fresh tape ends over the internal barbs—no clamps or glue required.
  • Blowout-Proof Seal: The locking nuts twist forward to mechanically clamp the tape over the barb, providing a connection that exceeds the pressure rating of the tape itself.
  • Reusable & Adjustable: Unlike permanent glue fittings, the Tape Loc Coupler can be unscrewed and reused, providing flexibility for evolving garden layouts.
  • UV-Stabilized Durability: Molded from high-grade polypropylene to resist UV degradation and chemical fertilizers for long-term outdoor performance.
  • High Flow Design: The internal diameter is optimized to minimize friction loss, ensuring consistent water delivery to your downstream emitters.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Repair or extend your lines in four easy steps.

Step 1: Prep the Tape
Ensure the ends of your drip tape are cut squarely with scissors. If repairing a tear, cut out the damaged section completely. Tip: If there is a hard plastic emitter inside the tape within the first inch of the cut, trim the tape back past it.

Step 2: Prepare the Fitting
Rotate both locking nuts backwards (towards the center of the coupler) to expose the sharp tape barbs.

Step 3: Insert and Lock
Slide the first piece of tape over the barb until it hits the center shoulder. Twist the locking nut forward (away from the center) until hand-tight. Repeat the process for the second piece of tape on the opposite side.

Step 4: Test
Turn on your water source and verify the connection is leak-free. Hand-tighten the nuts further if any weeping occurs.

✔ Compatibility Check

Verify your components before installation:

  • Fits: Standard 5/8" (16mm) Drip Tape only (Aqua-Traxx, T-Tape, Chapin).
  • Size Ref: Fits tape with an internal diameter of approximately .625".
  • NOT Compatible with: 1/2" poly distribution tubing or 7/8" drip tape.
  • Pressure: Always use a pressure regulator (10-15 PSI).

Complete Your System

Essential accessories for a professional row crop system:

  • Drip Tape: High-uniformity distribution lines for vegetable rows and crop beds.
  • Tape Loc End Cap: The easiest way to close off and flush your drip tape runs.
  • Pressure Regulators: Mandatory for maintaining safe operating pressure below 15 PSI.
  • Hold Down Stakes: Secure your tape to the soil to prevent shifting from wind or heat.
  • Goof Plugs: Keep these on hand to seal unwanted holes in your poly mainline.
