Description

Redirect Flow with Confidence. Heavy-Duty 90° Turns.

The Dura Barbed Elbow (Insert x Insert) is the standard solution for creating secure 90-degree corners in your poly piping system. Manufactured from high-impact grey PVC, this fitting allows you to make sharp turns in your polyethylene tubing without kinking or restricting water flow. To ensure your system operates safely within the pressure limits of these connections, we highly recommend installing a pressure regulator upstream.

Known for their durability and "bite," Dura insert fittings feature sharp, multi-barb ridges that grip the inside of the tubing wall. While these are some of the most reliable irrigation fittings on the market for agricultural and commercial applications, they must be secured with hose clamps to ensure a permanent, leak-proof connection under pressure.

Why Choose Dura Insert Fittings?
  • Professional Grade: Molded from Schedule 40 PVC, these fittings are significantly tougher than standard black plastic barbed fittings.
  • Maximum Flow: The 90-degree bend is engineered to maintain a smooth bore, preventing the pressure loss that occurs when tubing is bent too tightly.
  • Chemical Resistant: Safe for use with fertilizers, acids, and common agricultural chemicals found in greenhouse and farm environments.
  • Secure Grip: The aggressive barb design provides excellent retention power, resisting pull-out even when the line is dragged or pressurized.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Note: Larger diameter tubing (1" and up) can be stiff. Warming the tubing ends is highly recommended.

Step 1: Prep the Tubing
Cut your poly tubing squarely at the point where you need the turn. Crucial: Slide a stainless steel hose clamp onto each section of tubing before inserting the fitting.

Step 2: Soften the Ends (Optional but Recommended)
Dip the end of the tubing in hot water (or use a heat gun carefully) for 10-15 seconds. This expands the poly and makes insertion significantly easier.

Step 3: Insert the Elbow
Push the barbed ends of the elbow completely into the tubing until the tubing hits the stop (body of the fitting). A rocking motion helps work the barbs in.

Step 4: Secure the Clamps
Slide the hose clamps into position over the barbed area. Tighten firmly with a nut driver or screwdriver until the clamp bites slightly into the tubing.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure this fitting matches your system:

  • Fits: Standard Polyethylene Mainline Tubing (sized by Inside Diameter).
  • Requires: Hose Clamps (Worm Gear or crimp style).
  • Does NOT Fit: Rigid PVC Pipe (White pipe used for house plumbing).
  • Does NOT Fit: Flat Drip Tape.
