Description

Split Your Flow. Secure Your Mainline.

The Barbed Tee (also known as an Insert Tee) is the standard solution for splitting a single irrigation line into two separate directions. Whether you are creating a grid layout for a garden bed or branching off a main header to feed multiple zones, this fitting ensures reliable water distribution throughout your system. It is one of the most fundamental irrigation fittings used in agricultural and residential drip systems.

Manufactured from high-impact Schedule 40 PVC, these tees feature sharp, multi-ridged barbs on all three ends. This design allows for a tight friction fit inside Polyethylene tubing, which must be secured with hose clamps to handle high pressure without leaking. The grey PVC construction offers excellent resistance to UV rays and harsh weather conditions.

Why Choose Dura Barbed Fittings?
  • Heavy-Duty Construction: Made from virgin Schedule 40 PVC, offering superior resistance to UV degradation, chemical fertilizers, and physical impact compared to standard polypropylene fittings.
  • High-Flow Design: The internal bore is maximized to reduce friction loss, ensuring that water pressure is maintained across the split.
  • Aggressive Barbs: The multiple sharp ridges provide a "tenacious grip" on the tubing liner, making it difficult for the tubing to pull away once installed.
  • Professional Grade: Manufactured in the USA by Dura Plastics, a trusted name in agricultural and commercial irrigation components.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Secure your system with this clamp-on installation method.

Step 1: Cut the Tubing
Cut your mainline tubing at the point where you want to split the flow. Ensure the cuts are clean and square using a tubing cutter.

Step 2: Add Clamps
Slide a stainless steel hose clamp onto each of the three tubing ends before inserting the fitting.

Step 3: Insert the Tee
Push the barbed ends of the tee into the tubing. Tip: If the tubing is cold or stiff, dip the ends in warm water for 10-15 seconds to soften it. Rock the fitting back and forth until the tubing is flush against the body stops.

Step 4: Tighten Clamps
Slide the clamps over the area where the tubing overlaps the barbs. Tighten them firmly with a nut driver or flathead screwdriver to ensure a leak-proof seal.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure you have the correct size:

  • Fitment: Barbed fittings connect by inserting INSIDE the tubing. Match the fitting size to your tubing's Inside Diameter (ID).
  • Clamps Required: Unlike compression or Easy Loc fittings, barbed fittings require clamps for pressures over 10-20 PSI.
  • Not for Drip Tape: This fitting will NOT work with flat Drip Tape; use Drip Tape Tees instead.
