Description

High-Capacity, Semi-Automatic Filtration for Heavy Debris

The Amiad 2" Scanaway Super Filter provides an incredibly efficient, commercial-grade solution for large irrigation systems drawing from dirty water sources. It features all the remarkable semi-automatic cleaning benefits of the standard Scanaway filter, but is upgraded with a massive 108-square-inch "Super" screen. This double-sized stainless steel screen holds significantly more sediment, drastically extending the intervals between necessary cleanings. By installing this heavy-duty unit upstream of your irrigation valves, you guarantee that even the most sediment-heavy well or pond water won't clog your delicate drip emitters.

The true power of the Scanaway system lies in its ability to be cleaned while the system is actively running. The internal assembly consists of a hollow PVC pipe fitted with suction nozzles that closely face the inner surface of the screen. When the convenient pop-up plugging indicator notifies you that the filter is dirty, simply open the exhaust valve and slowly crank the external handle. The sudden pressure drop forces the nozzles to violently suck debris directly off the screen and expel it out the flush valve—all without ever interrupting the water supply to your plants.

Why Choose the Amiad Scanaway Super Filter?
  • Continuous Operation: The semi-automatic flushing mechanism allows you to clean the filter screen without ever turning off the water supply or losing mainline pressure.
  • Massive Filtering Area: The "Super" double-sized screen (108 sq. in.) reduces maintenance frequency, making it ideal for water sources heavy with algae and sediment.
  • Pop-Up Indicator: Takes the guesswork out of maintenance. A highly visible indicator pops up when the pressure differential detects that the screen needs flushing.
  • Scanaway Technology: The manual crank spins internal suction nozzles across the screen, aggressively vacuuming away stuck-on debris in seconds.
  • High-Capacity Flow: Expertly handles massive water volumes up to 110 GPM to feed expansive agricultural row crops and commercial landscapes safely.

How to Set Up & Flush: A Step-by-Step Guide

Operate your semi-automatic filter efficiently and safely.

Step 1: Prep the Threads
Because this filter utilizes 2" Pipe Threads (MPT), apply 3 to 4 wraps of Teflon tape to both the inlet and outlet threads to ensure a watertight seal. Do not use liquid pipe dope.

Step 2: Install the Filter
Thread the Amiad filter into your 2" PVC manifold upstream of your valves. Ensure the directional flow arrow on the body points downstream toward your fields.

Step 3: Monitor the Indicator
Keep an eye on the red pop-up indicator button on the top of the filter. When the screen becomes clogged, the pressure differential will cause the red button to pop up, signaling it is time to flush.

Step 4: Scanaway Flushing
While the system is running (maintaining at least 35 PSI), open the small exhaust valve located on the lid. This creates the suction effect. Slowly turn the crank handle continuously for 10 to 15 seconds to spiral the nozzles across the screen, vacuuming away all debris. Close the exhaust valve when finished.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Scanaway semi-automatic cleaning work?
Inside the filter is a hollow PVC shaft equipped with suction nozzles that sit millimeters away from the stainless steel screen. When you open the flush exhaust valve, water rapidly escapes, creating a powerful vacuum at the nozzles.

As you turn the external crank handle, the shaft spins and moves up and down, allowing the nozzles to aggressively spiral across the entire screen, sucking the dirt off and expelling it out the flush port.

Do I need to turn off the water to clean the filter?
No! The greatest benefit of the Scanaway system is that it cleans the screen while the system is actively running.

You do not need to shut down your pump, turn off the water supply, or unscrew the massive filter canister to perform routine flushing.

Should I choose the 155 or 200 Mesh?
A 155-mesh screen is the standard recommendation and provides excellent protection for most punch-in drip emitters, soaker hoses, and micro-sprinklers.

A 200-mesh screen is finer and catches smaller particles. It is highly recommended if you are using highly sensitive drip tape or if your well water contains very fine sand and silt.

How should I prepare my Amiad Scanaway filter for spring watering?
Before turning the system on for spring, you should perform a manual deep clean. Turn the water off, unscrew the main canister, and carefully remove the stainless steel screen and scanner assembly.

Brush off any hard winter scale, ensure the internal O-rings are seated properly, and reassemble. Once pressurized, perform a test flush using the crank handle to verify the suction nozzles are operating correctly.

✔ Compatibility & Design Check

Please note the strict requirements for this semi-automatic filter:

  • Minimum Pressure Required: To successfully create the vacuum effect for the suction nozzles, your system must maintain a minimum of 35 PSI and 35 GPM while flushing.
  • Thread Type: Features large 2" Male Pipe Threads (MPT/NPT). You will need 2" threaded PVC fittings to integrate this into your manifold.
  • Constant Pressure: Rated up to 150 PSI, meaning it can be safely installed upstream (before) your automated valves or timers.

Complete Your System

Ensure your high-capacity agricultural head assembly is protected and easy to maintain with these recommended products:

  • Irrigation Valves: Connect your filter upstream of a reliable AC or DC irrigation valve for fully automated, protected watering.
  • PVC Fittings: Browse schedule 40 and 80 PVC fittings to safely integrate this 2" pipe-threaded filter into your rigid pipe manifold.
  • Pressure Regulators: Essential for dropping high municipal or pump pressure down to safe operating levels for your drip system.
  • Mainline Tubing: The standard backbone for delivering clean, filtered water from your new manifold directly to your crops.
