Description

Control Your Flow. Connect Tape Directly to Mainline.

Managing individual rows is crucial for a successful harvest. The Tape Loc x .420 Barb with Valve gives you the power to turn off specific drip tape rows for maintenance, harvesting, or crop rotation without shutting down your entire system.

Designed to insert directly into 1" or larger poly tubing (or PVC pipe using a grommet), this fitting acts as both a takeoff adapter and a shut-off valve. The integrated valve allows you to fine-tune your irrigation strategy, while the Tape Loc nut ensures a secure, leak-proof connection to your 5/8" drip tape.

Why Choose Tape Loc Technology?
  • Integrated Flow Control: The built-in valve handle is easy to turn, allowing you to isolate rows instantly. This is perfect for weeding, replanting, or repairing lines without affecting the rest of your garden.
  • Direct Mainline Insertion: The sharp .420 barb is designed to be pushed directly into a punched hole in your supply tubing, eliminating the need for extra tees or connectors.
  • Positive Locking Mechanism: The distinctive locking nut twists down to mechanically clamp the tape over the barb. This "annular compression" creates a seal that is far superior to standard friction-barb fittings.
  • Fully Reusable: Unlike compression fittings that "bite" into the plastic, Tape Loc fittings can be unlocked and removed in seconds. Perfect for seasonal systems.
  • UV & Chemical Resistant: Molded from high-grade polypropylene with UV stabilizers, these fittings resist cracking from sun exposure and are chemically inert to standard fertilizers.

Understanding compatibility is key to a successful installation. The Tape Loc system is engineered exclusively for flat drip tape.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Punch Hole in Mainline
Lay out your 1" (or larger) poly tubing. Use a .400 Barb Punch Tool (or compatible hole punch) to create a clean hole where you want your drip tape row to start.

Step 2: Insert Valve
Push the barbed end of the valve firmly into the punched hole. You should hear or feel a "snap" as the barb seats inside the tubing.

Step 3: Prepare Tape
Cut your drip tape squarely with scissors. Critical Tip: Inspect the cut end. If there is a hard plastic emitter inside the tape within the first inch, cut it off.

Step 4: Connect Tape
Rotate the locking nut backwards to expose the tape barb. Slide the drip tape over the barb until it hits the stop. Twist the locking nut forward (clockwise) to lock the tape in place.

Tip: If installing into PVC pipe, you must first install a Top Hat Grommet into a 5/8" drill hole, then insert this barb into the grommet.

✔ Compatibility Check

This fitting is for 5/8" Drip Tape ONLY.

  • It will NOT fit 1/2" Poly Tubing (Mainline).
  • It will NOT fit 1/4" Micro Tubing.
  • This fitting requires a hole punch for installation into poly tubing.
  • If you are using solid black tubing that does not flatten when empty, you need Easy Loc fittings, not Tape Loc.

Complete Your System

Ensure your drip tape system runs smoothly by having the right tools and accessories:

  • Punch Tools: Required to create the hole in your mainline for this barb fitting.
  • Pressure Regulators: Essential for keeping system pressure below 15 PSI to prevent tape bursts.
  • Tape Loc End Caps: To securely close off the end of your drip lines with the same easy-flush capability.
