Description

The Classic Repair. Reliable & Glueless.

The PVC Compression Repair Coupling is a time-tested solution for fixing leaks in irrigation mainlines and laterals. Unlike glue-on fittings that require dry pipe and cure time, this mechanical coupling uses heavy-duty rubber gaskets and threaded nuts to create a water-tight seal instantly. It works effectively on wet pipe, making it the go-to choice for emergency repairs on Schedule 40 PVC pipe.

These robust irrigation fittings are designed with a slightly larger body that slides over the existing pipe. By tightening the nuts on either end, you compress the internal gaskets against the pipe wall, stopping the leak immediately. This design is perfect for situations where water flow cannot be completely shut off or where the pipe cannot be dried sufficiently for solvent welding.

Why Choose Compression Couplings?
  • Wet Installation: Can be installed on wet or dripping pipes where PVC glue would fail to bond.
  • Mechanical Seal: Relies on physical compression of rubber gaskets rather than chemical bonding, allowing for immediate pressurization (up to 150 PSI static).
  • Reusable: The fitting can be unscrewed and removed if future system modifications are required.
  • Versatile: Compatible with both Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC pipe standard dimensions.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Secure a leak-free seal in four steps.

Step 1: Prep the Pipe
Cut out the damaged section of pipe. Clean the pipe ends thoroughly with sand cloth to remove dirt, mud, or old glue. Crucial: The gasket needs a smooth surface to seal against.

Step 2: Disassemble & Slide
Unscrew the nuts and remove the rubber gaskets from the coupling body. Slide a nut and then a gasket onto each side of the pipe.

Step 3: Position the Body
Place the white PVC body into the gap. Slide the gaskets and nuts toward the body.

Step 4: Tighten
Screw the nuts onto the body. Hand tighten firmly, then use a wrench for an additional half-turn if necessary. Do not overtighten.

✔ Compatibility Check

Know the limits:

  • Fits: Iron Pipe Size (IPS) PVC pipe (Schedule 40 and 80).
  • Restraint: This fitting does not prevent pipe pull-out. The pipe must be restrained (buried) to prevent it from sliding out under pressure.
  • Gap Size: You must remove enough pipe to fit the body, but not so much that the gaskets slide off the pipe ends.
