Description

Precision Irrigation for Corners, Strips & Odd-Shaped Areas.

Standard arc nozzles can't solve every irrigation challenge — and that's exactly why Hunter created the MP Rotator® Specialty Nozzles. This family of four purpose-built nozzles tackles the irregular spaces that leave conventional rotary heads under- or over-watering: tight corners, narrow side strips along walls and fences, and shallow rectangular planting beds. All four nozzles share the core MP Rotator technology — slow, multi-stream rotation, matched precipitation rates, and a female-threaded inlet — so they integrate seamlessly with the rest of your MP Rotator system without causing uneven wet or dry zones.

The lineup includes four distinct nozzles, each color-coded for easy field identification: the MP Corner (Turquoise) for tight 45°–105° arcs in corners with an 8'–15' radius; the MP Left Corner Strip (Ivory) for a 5' × 15' left-oriented rectangular pattern; the MP Right Corner Strip (Copper) for the same 5' × 15' pattern in the opposite orientation; and the MP Side Strip (Brown) for longer narrow runs up to 5' × 30'. All models operate at a matched precipitation rate of approximately 0.4 in/hr at the recommended 40 PSI, and strip pattern radius can be adjusted by up to 25% without disrupting precipitation uniformity. All nozzles include a removable inlet filter for easy cleaning and a female-threaded inlet for standard spray body compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between the MP Corner and the MP Strip nozzles?
The MP Corner (turquoise) produces a traditional arc-shaped pattern adjustable from 45° to 105°, making it ideal for tight corners where even a quarter-circle nozzle would overshoot. The MP Strip nozzles (ivory, copper, brown) produce rectangular patterns — either 5'×15' or 5'×30' — specifically designed for narrow turf or planting strips where any arc pattern would waste water on hardscape or structures.

What is the difference between the Left Strip, Right Strip, and Side Strip?
The Left Corner Strip (Ivory) and Right Corner Strip (Copper) both cover a 5' × 15' rectangular pattern, but they orient in opposite directions from the head — use them as a matched pair at opposite ends of a narrow bed. The Side Strip (Brown) covers a wider 5' × 30' pattern and is intended for longer runs such as parking strips, medians, or side-yard turf strips.

What operating pressure do MP Rotator specialty nozzles need?
All four specialty nozzles operate between 30 and 55 PSI, with the optimal pressure being 40 PSI. Running at 40 PSI ensures the best balance of radius, distribution uniformity, and matched precipitation rate.

Can I mix MP Rotator specialty nozzles with standard MP Rotator nozzles in the same zone?
Yes — all MP Rotator nozzles share the same matched precipitation rate of approximately 0.4 in/hr (using single-row or triangular spacing). This means you can mix specialty and standard models in the same zone without creating dry or soggy spots, as long as you maintain consistent head spacing and use the appropriate spray body pressure regulation.

What spray body do these nozzles install on?
MP Rotator specialty nozzles use a standard female-threaded connection and install directly onto any compatible Hunter spray body or pop-up body with a male-threaded nozzle seat. For best performance at the recommended 40 PSI, use the Hunter PRS40 pressure-regulating spray body.

Can I adjust the strip radius?
Yes. All three strip nozzles (MP-LCS-515, MP-RCS-515, and MP-SS-530) allow radius adjustment of up to 25% using the MP Rotator Adjustment Tool. Unlike conventional nozzles, the MP Rotator is engineered to maintain its matched precipitation rate even after radius adjustment — so tightening the radius won't cause over-watering.

Do these qualify for water rebates?
Yes. This product qualifies for rebates through certain Bay Area water districts. Visit the BAWSCA Droplet Portal to check if your local district is participating. MP Rotators are widely recognized by water agencies as a water-efficient upgrade from conventional spray nozzles due to their lower application rate and improved distribution uniformity.

What tool do I need to install and adjust these nozzles?
A complimentary MP Rotator Adjustment Tool (MPRTOOL) is automatically added to your cart with every order of MP Rotator nozzles. This tool is used to set and verify the arc on corner nozzles and adjust the strip radius. Additional tools are available for purchase.

✔ Compatibility Check

Before you install, verify the following:

  • Spray Body: These nozzles require a compatible female-threaded spray body.
  • Operating Pressure: Optimal at 40 PSI. If your static supply pressure exceeds 55 PSI, use a pressure regulator upstream or a PRS spray body to stay in range.
  • Zone Mixing: MP Rotator specialty nozzles can be used in the same zone as standard MP Rotator nozzles — all share the same 0.4 in/hr matched precipitation rate at single-row or triangular spacing.
  • Orientation: Left and Right Corner Strips must be installed with the correct orientation relative to the area being covered. The color coding (ivory vs. copper) helps identify each at a glance during installation.
  • Adjustment Tool: A complimentary MP Rotator Adjustment Tool ships with your order. Keep it on hand for field radius adjustment and arc verification.

Complete Your MP Rotator System

Pair your MP Rotator Specialty Nozzles with these essential components for a fully functional, water-efficient system:

  • Spray Bodies & Pop-Up Bodies: Compatible spray bodies including the Hunter PRS40, which pressure-regulates at 40 PSI for ideal MP Rotator performance.
  • Standard MP Rotator Nozzles: Full-arc MP Rotator nozzles (MP1000, MP2000, MP3000, MP3500) for open lawn zones — mix freely with specialty nozzles in the same zone.
  • MP Rotator Adjustment Tool: Required for setting arc and adjusting strip radius on all MP Rotator nozzles. One complimentary tool ships with each order.
  • Irrigation Timers & Controllers: Automate your watering schedule with battery-operated or AC-powered controllers compatible with standard solenoid valves.
  • Irrigation Valves: Zone control valves to operate each MP Rotator circuit independently from your controller.
  • Pressure Regulators: Inline pressure regulators to protect nozzles and maintain optimal precipitation uniformity if your supply pressure exceeds 55 PSI.
  • Funny Pipe & Swing Joints: Flexible connectors that protect spray bodies from lateral pipe stress and allow easy repositioning after installation.
