How to Build Excellent Soil for Raised Bed Gardens

The Senninger® mini-Wobbler™ is the gold standard for efficient, low-pressure overhead irrigation in nurseries, flower beds, ground cover plantings, orchards, and row crops. Powered by patented Wobbler® Technology — introduced by Senninger® in 1978 — the mini-Wobbler's grooved deflector rotates and wobbles simultaneously to deliver an instantaneous, uniform water application over a large coverage diameter, all at operating pressures as low as 15 PSI. This unique motion produces large droplets with a low-angle trajectory, minimizing wind drift and evaporative loss even in open-field conditions.
Available in two primary flow models — the MWLB (Low Flow – Light Blue nozzle) and the MWL (High Flow – Lavender nozzle) — the mini-Wobbler connects via a standard 1/2" Male NPT base and is compatible with the Mini-Wobbler Riser Adapter (MWRA) for flexible, tool-free installation. Color-coded nozzles make size identification quick in the field, and Senninger warrants that nozzles maintain their correct orifice size for five full years. With only one moving part, the mini-Wobbler is built to outlast virtually any competing sprinkler head.
For greenhouse and propagation applications, DripWorks also carries Inverted Mini-Wobblers designed for overhead mounting with optional anti-drip devices. Need to automate your watering schedule? Pair your mini-Wobblers with a compatible irrigation timer or controller from DripWorks.

What makes Wobbler® Technology different from a standard impact or gear-drive sprinkler?
Unlike impact sprinklers (which use a spring-loaded arm) or gear-drive rotors (which use internal gears), the mini-Wobbler has only one moving part: a grooved deflector that simultaneously rotates and wobbles. This unique motion breaks the water into large droplets and distributes them uniformly over the entire coverage area all at once — rather than sweeping through an arc like a rotor. The result is more even distribution, lower application intensity, and significantly less soil compaction and runoff than conventional sprinklers.
What is the difference between the MWLB (Low Flow) and the MWL (High Flow)?
The MWLB features a Light Blue nozzle and is a lower-flow model well-suited for closer-spaced nursery beds, seed propagation, and water-sensitive crops. The MWL features a Lavender (#8) nozzle and delivers a significantly higher flow rate for larger coverage areas and faster irrigation cycles. Both operate in the same 15–25 PSI pressure range, so the choice comes down to your desired coverage diameter, flow rate, and plant sensitivity.
What mounting hardware do I need?
The mini-Wobbler connects via a 1/2" Male NPT base. For field use, the Mini-Wobbler Riser Adapter (MWRA) is the simplest support solution — it includes 3 ft of supply tubing and a barbed adapter that inserts directly into your mainline tubing. The stand fits onto 5/16" rebar or 1/2"–3/4" PVC pipe for rigid support. For permanent or stake-mounted installations, a metal ground stake (MGDSM) or sled base (MSLED) can also be used.
What is the minimum pressure to operate the mini-Wobbler?
The mini-Wobbler is rated for 15 to 25 PSI. At 15 PSI, Senninger recommends using at least a #5 nozzle to ensure consistent startability. If your system pressure exceeds 25 PSI, we strongly recommend installing a pressure regulator upstream to protect the sprinkler and maintain proper distribution uniformity.
Can the mini-Wobbler be used for frost protection?
Yes. The mini-Wobbler's large droplet size, wide coverage, and low operating pressure make it a popular choice for frost protection applications in nurseries and orchards. Senninger offers a dedicated Frost Protection Guide (available in the Downloads section) for system design guidance. For frost protection, coverage overlap is critical — plan head spacing accordingly.
Is the mini-Wobbler suitable for greenhouse use?
The upright mini-Wobbler is primarily designed for field and nursery bed applications. For overhead greenhouse watering, DripWorks carries the Inverted Mini-Wobbler, which is purpose-built for mounting on overhead irrigation lines and produces a fine, even spray ideal for propagation and container watering. An optional anti-drip device (MWANTI) prevents dripping after the system shuts off.
How long does the mini-Wobbler last?
The mini-Wobbler carries a 2-year warranty on materials, workmanship, and performance, and a 5-year nozzle orifice warranty guaranteeing the correct orifice size is maintained. With only one moving part and no metal springs or gear assemblies to wear out, many users report the mini-Wobbler outlasting conventional sprinkler heads by a significant margin.
Can I fertigate (apply fertilizer) through the mini-Wobbler?
Yes. The mini-Wobbler is widely used for fertigation in commercial nurseries and agricultural operations. DripWorks carries a full range of fertilizer injectors compatible with sprinkler-based systems, including EZ-FLO, Mazzei, and MixRite models.
What is the High Angle version and when should I use it?
The mini-Wobbler High Angle (black deflector) produces a steeper water trajectory and achieves significantly larger coverage diameters — 37.5 to 52.0 ft at 1.5 ft height — compared to the standard upright model (26.5 to 39.0 ft). It is ideal for taller crops, under-tree irrigation in orchards, and situations where you need to maximize spacing between heads. Stream heights range from 3.7 to 6.2 ft above the nozzle.
