Description

The Simplest Link from Faucet to Garden.

The Hose x 1/4" Barb Adapter is the essential starting point for any small-scale patio or container drip system. This fitting allows you to connect 1/4" micro-tubing directly to a standard outdoor faucet, garden hose, or hose thread timer. It effectively bridges the gap between high-volume water sources and precision emitters.

Whether you are setting up a single window box or a series of potted plants, this is one of the most versatile irrigation fittings for your drip hose or supply line run without the need for bulky manifold assemblies or expensive PVC conversions.

Why Use the Hose to 1/4" Barb Adapter?
  • Direct Spigot Connection: Specifically designed to thread onto any standard 3/4" Male Hose Thread (MHT) source, including spigots and garden hoses.
  • Leak-Proof Barb: The sharp, tapered barb provides a high-friction grip on 1/4" micro-tubing, ensuring the line stays secure even under standard household water pressure.
  • Internal Washer Included: Comes pre-fitted with a rubber hose washer to ensure a watertight seal against the faucet or timer.
  • UV Resistant Build: Manufactured from high-impact, UV-stabilized plastic to prevent cracking and degradation from constant sun exposure.
  • Tool-Free Installation: Can be hand-tightened onto a faucet in seconds, making it ideal for seasonal garden setups.

Installation Tips: Faucet to Micro-Tubing

Step 1: Check the Washer
Ensure the rubber hose washer is seated flat inside the female threads of the adapter before attaching it to the faucet.

Step 2: Connect the Tubing
Push your 1/4" poly tubing over the barb. For an easier fit, dip the end of the tubing in warm water for a few seconds to soften it before sliding it onto the barb.

Step 3: Hand Tighten
Thread the adapter onto your faucet or timer. Tighten it by hand until firm. Do not use a wrench, as over-tightening can damage the plastic threads or compress the washer too far.

Step 4: Flush the Line
Turn on the water briefly to flush out any debris from the tubing before attaching your drippers or misters.

✔ Fitment Verification

Standard Threads vs. Pipe Threads:

  • Garden Hose Threads (GHT): This adapter fits standard outdoor faucets, garden hoses, and hose-end timers.
  • NOT Compatible with NPT: This will NOT fit 3/4" PVC pipe threads or indoor sink threads without an additional adapter.
  • Tubing Size: Fits standard 1/4" micro-tubing (.170" ID). It is NOT compatible with 1/2" or 3/4" mainline poly tubing.

Complete Your System

Pair this adapter with these essential components for a complete micro-drip setup:

  • 1/4" Vinyl Micro-Tubing: The standard distribution line for this adapter.
  • Hose End Timer: Automate your watering directly at the spigot.
  • Hose Y-Valve: Split your faucet so you can keep a garden hose connected while running your drip system.
  • 1/4" Barbed Tees: Use these to branch off your micro-tubing to multiple plants.
  • Drip Emitters: Choose from pressure-compensating drippers or adjustable bubblers to finish your line.
