Winter Garden Care for Your Garden: Essential Maintenance Tasks and Tips

The Dura 1 1/4" Barbed Elbow is a heavy-duty insert fitting designed to create secure 90-degree turns in large-diameter poly tubing. Ideal for agricultural mainlines and commercial landscape headers, this fitting connects two pieces of 1 1/4" Polyethylene Tubing without restricting water flow. As one of our toughest irrigation fittings, it is molded from Schedule 40 PVC and features sharp, multi-barb ridges that "bite" into the tubing wall for a permanent hold.
Unlike smaller compression fittings, this large-diameter insert elbow requires stainless steel hose clamps to ensure a blowout-proof seal under pressure. It is manufactured in the USA by Dura Plastics, ensuring consistent quality and dimensional accuracy for your critical water lines.
Verified specifications for large-diameter systems.

Secure connections require heat and clamps.
Step 1: Prep the Tubing
Cut your 1 1/4" poly tubing squarely. Crucial Step: Slide a Stainless Steel Hose Clamp onto the tubing before inserting the fitting.
Step 2: Soften the Ends
Large diameter poly tubing can be stiff. Dip the end of the tubing in hot water for 10-20 seconds to soften it. This makes insertion much easier.
Step 3: Insert the Elbow
Push the barbed end of the elbow completely into the tubing until it hits the stop. Use a rocking motion if necessary.
Step 4: Clamp it Down
Slide the hose clamp over the barbed section (not past it). Tighten the clamp screw firmly using a nut driver or flathead screwdriver until the clamp bites slightly into the tubing.
Ensure this elbow fits your line:
