Description

Turn Corners and Reduce Line Size Instantly.

The Barbed Reducing Elbow is a specialized fitting designed to streamline your irrigation layout by performing two tasks at once: making a clean 90-degree turn and stepping down your mainline size. This fitting is most commonly used to transition from a larger 3/4" poly tubing header to a 1/2" zone line, eliminating the need for separate couplers or reducers.

Constructed from durable Schedule 40 PVC, this insert fitting features sharp, high-grip barbs on both ends. It creates a tight, leak-resistant seal that holds firm even under the pressure fluctuations common in agricultural and residential drip systems.

Why Choose Dura Barbed Fittings?
  • Dual-Function Design: Replaces the need for a standard elbow plus a separate reducing coupler, saving you money and reducing potential leak points.
  • High-Impact Durability: Molded from Schedule 40 PVC, these fittings are built to resist cracking from UV exposure, foot traffic, and gardening tools.
  • Secure Grip: The aggressive barb design "bites" into the inner wall of the tubing. When secured with a hose clamp, it provides a permanent, blowout-proof connection.
  • Chemical Resistant: Safe for use with standard fertilizers and acids used in fertigation systems.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps for a secure, leak-free corner.

Step 1: Cut the Tubing
Cut your 3/4" incoming line and your 1/2" outgoing line to length. Ensure the cuts are clean and square to prevent leaking.

Step 2: Add Clamps
Slide a hose clamp onto each piece of tubing before inserting the fitting.

Step 3: Insert Fittings
Push the 3/4" barbed end into the 3/4" tubing and the 1/2" barbed end into the 1/2" tubing.
Tip: If the tubing is stiff (cold weather), dip the ends in warm water to soften them for easier insertion.

Step 4: Tighten
Slide the clamps over the barbed areas and tighten them firmly with a nut driver or flathead screwdriver.
