Managing individual rows is crucial for a successful harvest. The Tape Loc x .400 Barb with Valve gives you the power to turn off specific drip tape rows for maintenance, harvesting, or crop rotation without shutting down your entire system.

Designed with an oversized .400 barb, this fitting allows for higher water flow rates (up to 160 GPH) compared to standard 1/4" barbs. It inserts directly into 3/4" or larger poly tubing (or PVC pipe using a grommet), creating a simple, tool-free takeoff point with integrated shut-off control.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Punch Hole in Mainline
Lay out your 3/4" (or larger) poly tubing. Use a .400 Barb Punch Tool (SKU: PU400NEW) to create a specifically sized hole. Note: Standard 1/4" punches are too small for this fitting.

Step 2: Insert Valve
Push the barbed end of the valve firmly into the punched hole. You should hear or feel a "snap" as the barb seats inside the tubing.

Step 3: Prepare Tape
Cut your drip tape squarely with scissors. Critical Tip: Inspect the cut end. If there is a hard plastic emitter inside the tape within the first inch, cut it off.

Step 4: Connect Tape
Rotate the locking nut backwards to expose the tape barb. Slide the drip tape over the barb until it hits the stop. Twist the locking nut forward (clockwise) to lock the tape in place.

Tip: If installing into PVC pipe, drill a 9/16" hole and install a Top Hat Grommet first.

✔ Compatibility Check

This fitting is for 5/8" Drip Tape ONLY.

  • It will NOT fit 1/2" Poly Tubing (Mainline).
  • It will NOT fit 1/4" Micro Tubing.
  • This fitting requires a specialized .400 punch tool.
  • If you are using solid black tubing that does not flatten when empty, you need Easy Loc fittings, not Tape Loc.
