The Schedule 40 PVC Threaded Cap is the reusable solution for terminating threaded pipe runs or closing off unused ports on a manifold. Unlike a glued slip cap, this fitting features Female Pipe Threads (FPT) that screw onto any standard PVC fitting or male adapter.

This design is ideal for creating "clean-out" points at the end of a mainline or temporarily capping off a sprinkler riser for future expansion. Manufactured by Dura Plastics, these caps provide a water-tight seal when used with thread tape, yet remain easy to remove for winterization or system flushing.

Why Choose a Threaded Cap?
  • Reusability: Can be screwed on and off repeatedly, making it perfect for seasonal flushing or temporary system closures.
  • Manifold Expansion: Use these to cap off extra ports on a PVC manifold tee, leaving them ready for future zones.
  • Durable Construction: Molded from UV-resistant Schedule 40 PVC, designed to withstand the pressure of a live irrigation main.
  • Universal Fit: Compatible with all standard Male Pipe Thread (MPT) fittings of the same size.
Technical Specifications & MPNs

Match the cap size to the Male Thread you are covering.

Size Connection Type Dura MPN
1/2" 1/2" Female Pipe Thread (FPT) 448-005
3/4" 3/4" Female Pipe Thread (FPT) 448-007
1" 1" Female Pipe Thread (FPT) 448-010
Material Schedule 40 PVC (White)
Standards ASTM D-2466, NSF-PW
How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Secure connection without glue.

Step 1: Prep the Threads
Clean the male threads of the nipple or fitting you are capping. Apply thread seal tape (Teflon tape) wrapping 3-4 times in a clockwise direction.

Step 2: Install Cap
Screw the cap onto the taped threads by hand until snug.

Step 3: Tighten
Use a wrench or pliers to turn the cap one additional half-turn. Do not overtighten, as this can split the PVC cap.

Step 4: Pressurize
Turn on the water to test for leaks. If a drip occurs, tighten slightly more.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure this matches your needs:

  • Fits: Male Pipe Threads (MPT) of the same nominal size.
  • Does NOT Fit: Smooth pipe ends (You need a Slip Cap for that).
  • Does NOT Fit: Garden Hose Threads (GHT).
  • NO GLUE: Never use PVC glue on threaded connections.

Complete Your System

Complement your threaded caps with these essential components:

  • Thread Seal Tape: Essential for creating a watertight seal on any threaded PVC connection.
  • Valve Boxes: Protect your underground capped stub-outs and manifolds while keeping them accessible for future use.
  • Manifolds: Combine caps with manifold tees to create expandable zones for your irrigation system.
  • Winterization Tools: These caps are perfect for creating flush points to drain and winterize your system.
