Description

Seamless Connections. Professional Strength.

The PVC Slip x Slip Coupler is the fundamental building block for any PVC irrigation system. Designed with two female socket ends, this fitting connects two pieces of Schedule 40 PVC pipe of the same size in a straight line. Whether you are running a new main water line to your garden or repairing a cracked section of pipe, this coupler ensures a seamless, high-flow connection.

Reliability is critical in underground applications, which is why professionals trust these essential irrigation fittings. Unlike compression fittings that can slip under pressure spikes, a solvent-welded PVC coupler effectively turns two pipes into one continuous unit, offering superior durability against soil shifting and water hammer in your irrigation system.

Why Choose Dura Schedule 40 PVC?
  • Deep Socket Design: Features a generous socket depth that provides ample surface area for solvent welding, ensuring a bond that is often stronger than the pipe itself.
  • Virgin Resin Construction: Molded from high-quality Type I, Grade I PVC resin (ASTM D-1784), offering excellent resistance to corrosion, chemical fertilizers, and environmental stress.
  • Impact Resistant: Engineered to withstand the rigors of trench installation and high-pressure operation without cracking.
  • NSF Certified: Meets NSF/ANSI Standard 61 requirements, making it safe for use in potable (drinking) water systems as well as irrigation.
  • Smooth Flow: The internal stop ridge is precision-molded to ensure pipes seat correctly, minimizing turbulence at the joint.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

A successful connection depends on proper preparation.

Step 1: Cut and Clean
Cut your PVC pipe squarely using a pipe cutter. Remove any burrs or shavings from the cut end to ensure it sits flush against the coupler's internal stop.

Step 2: Dry Fit
Insert the pipe into the coupler to check fitment. It should go in about 1/3 to 2/3 of the way before meeting resistance. This interference fit is normal.

Step 3: Apply Primer
Apply purple primer to the outside of the pipe end and the inside of the coupler socket. This softens the plastic for bonding.

Step 4: Glue and Hold
While the primer is wet, apply a coat of PVC cement to both surfaces. Push the pipe fully into the coupler with a quarter-twist to spread the glue. Hold firmly for 30 seconds to prevent "push-out."

✔ Compatibility Check

Verify your pipe size:

  • Fits: Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC pipe of the corresponding size (e.g., 1/2" coupler fits 1/2" pipe).
  • Does NOT Fit: Poly tubing, garden hoses, or copper pipe.
  • Requirement: This is a solvent weld fitting. It requires PVC Primer and Glue to seal. It is not threaded.

Complete Your System

Ensure a professional installation with these essential tools and parts:

  • PVC Primer: Mandatory for softening the plastic to create a permanent weld.
  • PVC Glue: "Blue Hot" glue sets quickly, perfect for wet or dry conditions.
  • Pipe Cutters: Essential for making square, burr-free cuts on your pipe.
  • PVC Elbows: Need to turn a corner? Use an elbow instead of bending the pipe.
  • PVC Ball Valves: Install a shut-off valve inline for easy system maintenance.
