Description

Adapt and Connect. Secure Poly Transitions.

The Dura 3/4" MPT x 1" Barb Reducing Male Adapter allows for a seamless transition between threaded equipment and large-diameter polyethylene tubing. This adapter features a 3/4" Male Pipe Thread (MPT) on one end and a 1" barbed insert on the other, making it perfect for connecting a 1" mainline run to a 3/4" filter, pressure regulator, or pump outlet. To ensure a leak-proof connection on the barbed end, we strictly recommend securing your tubing with worm gear clamps.

Molded from durable gray PVC, this fitting provides high chemical resistance and durability for agricultural and landscape environments. It is one of our essential irrigation fittings for situations where you need to step up from a smaller threaded port to a larger flow capacity line without using multiple bushings.

Why Choose Dura Insert Fittings?
  • Efficient Reduction: Eliminates the need for extra bushings by combining a size reduction and a material adapter (Thread to Barb) into one unit.
  • Sharp Barbs: The aggressive barb design grips the interior of poly tubing securely, though a clamp is always required for pressure holding.
  • Chemical Resistant: Manufactured from high-quality PVC, making it resistant to fertilizers, mild acids, and UV exposure.
  • Standard Threads: The 3/4" MPT end fits universally into any standard 3/4" Female Pipe Thread (FPT) component.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps for a leak-free installation.

Step 1: Prep the Threads
Wrap the 3/4" MPT threads with thread seal tape (Teflon tape). Wrap 3-5 times in a clockwise direction to ensure a watertight seal.

Step 2: Screw in the Adapter
Thread the adapter into your 3/4" FPT component (such as a filter, regulator, or valve). Hand-tighten, then give it an extra 1/4 to 1/2 turn with pliers if necessary. Do not overtighten.

Step 3: Connect Tubing
Slide a worm gear clamp over your 1" Poly Tubing. Push the tubing over the 1" barbed end of the adapter. It may help to warm the tubing end with warm water to make it more pliable.

Step 4: Secure the Clamp
Slide the clamp over the barb area (ensure it is behind the last ridge of the barb) and tighten it down with a nut driver or screwdriver until secure.

✔ Compatibility Check

This is a reducing adapter. Check both sides:

  • Side A (3/4" MPT): Compatible with 3/4" Female Pipe Thread components (Filters, Regulators, PVC fittings).
  • Side B (1" Barb): Compatible ONLY with 1" ID Polyethylene Tubing.
  • Reduction: Note that this connects two different sizes (3/4" and 1"). Ensure your flow requirements match this configuration.
