Description

Compact Reduction. Threaded Adaptability.

The Schedule 40 PVC Bushing (Spigot x FPT) is a versatile space-saver designed to reduce the size of a fitting outlet while providing a threaded connection. This bushing inserts flush into the socket of a standard PVC fitting (like a Tee or Elbow) and creates a smaller Female Pipe Thread (FPT) outlet. It is one of the most practical irrigation fittings for adding risers, gauges, or smaller threaded components directly to a larger Schedule 40 PVC manifold.

By eliminating the need for extra pipe nipples or couplers, this "flush style" bushing keeps your system low-profile and professional. It is ideal for adapting a 1" mainline tee down to accept a 1/2" sprinkler riser or transitioning from a pump outlet to a different pipe size.

Why Choose Dura Spigot x FPT Bushings?
  • Space Efficient: Fits completely inside the hub of another fitting, allowing you to reduce line size without extending the length of your manifold.
  • Threaded Transition: Instantly converts a smooth slip socket into a threaded outlet, perfect for attaching male threaded risers or equipment.
  • Professional Grade: Molded from virgin PVC resin that meets ASTM standards for strength and chemical resistance.
  • High Pressure Rating: Capable of handling standard municipal and pump pressures when installed correctly.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Proper installation requires solvent welding the spigot side and threading the FPT side.

Step 1: Solvent Weld the Spigot
Clean and prime the outside of the bushing (spigot end) and the inside of the mating fitting socket. Apply PVC Glue to both surfaces. Insert the bushing fully into the socket with a quarter turn and hold for 30 seconds.

Step 2: Prepare the Threaded Connection
Wrap the threads of your male accessory (e.g., riser or nipple) with thread seal tape.

Step 3: Install the Threaded Item
Screw the male threaded item into the FPT outlet of the bushing. Hand tighten firmly.

Step 4: Allow Cure Time
Wait for the solvent cement to fully cure (check glue label for times) before pressurizing the system.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure you have the right connections:

  • Spigot End: This has the same outside diameter as pipe. It fits INSIDE a fitting hub (like a Tee or Elbow). It does NOT fit over pipe.
  • FPT End: Accepts Male Pipe Thread (MPT) fittings.
  • Not for Glue: Do not glue a pipe into the FPT threaded side.

Complete Your System

Get everything you need for a secure installation:

  • PVC Glue: Required to bond the spigot end into your fitting.
  • Purple Primer: Essential for softening the PVC for a strong weld.
  • Thread Seal Tape: Necessary for sealing the threaded connection.
  • PVC Tees: The most common fitting used with this bushing to create threaded zones.
