Description

Step Down Your Outlet. Integrate Sprinklers Easily.

The Barbed Female Reducing Tee (Insert x Insert x FPT) allows you to maintain high flow volume in your main poly line while providing a smaller, threaded outlet for system components. Featuring two large barbed ends for the run and a reduced Female Pipe Thread (FPT) outlet in the center, this fitting is ideal for installing 1/2" or 3/4" sprinklers directly onto a larger header. As with all insert fittings, secure the tubing connection using Hose Clamps to prevent blowouts under pressure.

These versatile irrigation fittings are molded from durable Schedule 40 PVC, offering excellent chemical and corrosion resistance. They are frequently used to transition from a 1" or 3/4" supply line down to a 1/2" riser for overhead irrigation or garden sprays.

Why Choose a Reducing Insert Tee?
  • Flow Efficiency: Keeps the main water line diameter large to minimize friction loss, while stepping down only at the outlet point for the emission device.
  • Direct Connection: Eliminates the need for a separate tee and reducer bushing, saving space and reducing potential leak points.
  • Secure Barbs: Sharp, multi-ribbed barbs provide a tight grip on Poly Tubing, ensuring a reliable connection when clamped.
  • Standard Threads: The FPT outlet accepts standard Male Pipe Thread (MPT) risers, nipples, and adapters.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Always use clamps on barbed fittings.

Step 1: Thread the Outlet
Apply Thread Seal Tape to the male threads of your smaller riser or nipple. Screw it into the center FPT port of the tee and hand tighten.

Step 2: Prepare Tubing
Cut your larger poly supply line squarely. Slide a Hose Clamp over each cut end of the tubing.

Step 3: Insert Fitting
Push the barbed ends of the tee fully into the poly tubing. If resistance is high, use warm water or a heat gun (low setting) to soften the tube end.

Step 4: Secure
Position the clamps over the barbs (not at the very edge of the pipe) and tighten securely with a screwdriver.

✔ Compatibility Check

Verify sizing:

  • Run (Sides): Matches the ID of your Poly Tubing (e.g., 1").
  • Branch (Center): Accepts a smaller MPT component (e.g., 1/2").
  • Requires: Hose Clamps for the tubing connections.
