Description

Commercial-Grade Venturi Fertigation for 1" Drip Systems

The 1" Mazzei Venturi Injector is a commercial-grade, no-moving-parts fertilizer injector designed for drip irrigation fertigation. Using the venturi effect, it creates a pressure differential to draw liquid fertilizer from virtually any container and inject it precisely into your water line. It is available in two models — High Flow and Low Flow — so you can match the injector to your system's actual GPH flow rate. The injector is also available as a Suction Assembly kit.

A complete, ready-to-operate unit requires three separate components: an injector, a bypass assembly, and a suction assembly (all sold separately here). The 1" Mazzei suction assembly (compatible kit model K-183 or KR-183) includes clear vinyl tubing, a metering valve or PVC ball valve, a strainer, tubing adapters, and clamps — everything needed to connect the injector to your fertilizer container. It is critical to size the injector correctly: an oversized injector will not draw fertilizer at all, while an undersized one will restrict system flow. When in doubt, choose a smaller model and install on a bypass. Rebuild kits (seal, ball, and spring) are available to service all 1" Mazzei models.

Key Features
  • No Moving Parts: Venturi design means nothing to wear out — incredibly reliable and low-maintenance once dialed in.
  • Two Flow Models: High Flow and Low Flow options let you match the injector to your system's actual operating GPH, not just pipe size.
  • Bypass Installation Recommended: Best installed on a bypass loop with ball valves to fine-tune suction and minimize main-line restriction.
  • Draws from Any Container: The suction assembly connects to any open fertilizer bucket or barrel for flexible operation.
  • Rebuildable: Internal seal, ball, and spring are replaceable with a DripWorks rebuild kit, extending the injector's service life.
Sizing Guide: Choosing the Right Model

Mazzei injectors are sized by the total GPH flow rate of your irrigation system — not by the size of your mainline pipe or your water source's available flow.

  • Add up the rated GPH of all emitters, drip tape, sprayers, or other watering devices operating simultaneously in your zone.
  • Select the injector model whose flow range matches that total.
  • Oversized injector: Will not draw fertilizer at all.
  • Undersized injector: Will restrict system water flow.
  • If your system's flow falls between models, always choose the smaller size and install on a bypass assembly to regulate flow.

The injector requires a minimum 5 PSI pressure drop from inlet to outlet to generate suction. Installing on a bypass with ball valves (sold separately) is the preferred method to achieve this differential with the least restriction on your main line.

Frequently Asked Questions

What three parts are needed for a complete Mazzei fertigation unit?
You need the injector itself, a bypass assembly, and a suction assembly. All three are sold separately and must be purchased together to create a fully operational fertigation system.

What does the 1" suction assembly include?
The compatible Mazzei suction kit for 1" injectors (K-183 / KR-183) includes clear vinyl tubing, a metering valve or PVC ball valve, a strainer, tubing adapters, and clamps — everything needed to connect the injector to your fertilizer source.

What type of fertilizer can I use?
Use only liquid or water-soluble fertilizers with less than 0.5% insoluble impurities. The Mazzei draws liquid directly from a container, so solids that do not fully dissolve can clog the suction strainer.

Can I repair my Mazzei injector instead of replacing it?
Yes. DripWorks carries Mazzei rebuild kits containing a replacement seal, ball, and spring for all 1" models, so you can restore full performance without buying a new injector.

✔ Important Notes Before You Buy

  • Three parts required: Injector + bypass assembly + suction assembly. This listing includes the injector and suction assembly options; a bypass must also be purchased for a complete setup.
  • Size by system GPH — not pipe size: Use the total GPH of all emitters in the running zone to select High Flow vs. Low Flow.
  • Backflow prevention required: Always install an appropriate backflow preventer when injecting fertilizer into any irrigation system connected to a potable water supply.
