Take-Apart Emitters

A quick guide to installing and maintaining your flag drippers.

Step 1: Prep the Line
Using a punch tool, create a clean hole in your 1/2" or 3/4" poly mainline tubing exactly where you want the emitter located.

Step 2: Insert the Emitter
Push the beveled barb (the base of the emitter, opposite the flag) firmly into the punched hole until it snaps securely into place. Alternatively, push it into the end of a 1/4" micro-tubing line.

Step 3: Add Extensions (Optional)
If your plant is far from the mainline, press a length of 1/4" micro-tubing onto the flag outlet barb to route the dripping water directly to the plant's base.

Step 4: Cleaning & Maintenance
If water stops flowing, simply grasp the flag, twist gently, and pull it off the base. Rinse both pieces to remove the blockage, then snap the flag back on.

How do I clean a clogged Take-Apart Emitter?
Simply twist and pull the flag cap off the emitter base. Rinse the internal pathway with clean water to remove any built-up sediment or debris, then firmly snap the flag back into place.

Can I use these emitters with my rain barrel gravity system?
Yes, these emitters are excellent for low-pressure gravity systems. Because they do not have a stiff internal diaphragm like pressure-compensating emitters, water can flow freely even with the minimal pressure generated by a rain barrel.

They are a top choice for off-grid gardens and water conservation setups.

Can I attach tubing to both sides of this emitter?
Yes, the beveled barb acts as the inlet from your water source, while the flag end features a secondary barb. You can attach 1/4" micro-tubing to the flag to route water directly to the plant base.

How can these emitters help manage my spring rain barrel water as the weather warms up?
Spring rain barrel water often develops algae and sediment as mid-May temperatures rise, which can clog standard emitters. The take-apart design allows you to easily open and flush the emitters, keeping your garden hydrated all summer.

Can I change the flow rate later if my plant grows?
Yes, the colored flags are interchangeable. If your plant requires more water as it matures, you can simply pull off the current flag and replace it with a higher-flow flag without removing the base from the tubing.
