Description

Versatile Corners. Built-in Threaded Outlet.

The Schedule 40 PVC Side Outlet Elbow (Slip x Slip x FPT) is a multi-functional fitting designed to streamline your pipe layout. It creates a standard 90-degree turn for your PVC line while providing a third, threaded outlet on the side. This configuration is ideal for installing threaded sprinklers or risers directly at a corner without needing extra tees or bushings.

By combining an elbow and a threaded outlet into one compact unit, you reduce the number of glue joints required, minimizing the risk of leaks. It is one of the most practical irrigation fittings for perimeter sprinkler systems, raised bed corners, or installing pressure gauges on a manifold.

Why Choose Dura Schedule 40 PVC?
  • 3-Way Functionality: Connects two pipes at a 90-degree angle (Slip x Slip) and accepts a threaded component (FPT) on the side outlet.
  • Professional Grade: Manufactured from virgin Type I, Grade I PVC resin, meeting ASTM D-2466 standards for pressure applications.
  • Corrosion Resistant: Impervious to rust, scale, and pitting, ensuring a long lifespan even when exposed to harsh soil conditions and fertilizers.
  • Secure Bonding: Precision-molded sockets ensure a tight interference fit for solvent welding, creating a fused joint that is stronger than the pipe itself.
  • NSF Certified: Approved for use in potable (drinking) water systems.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

This fitting requires solvent welding (gluing) for the slip connections and thread tape for the threaded outlet.

Step 1: Cut & Prep Pipe
Cut your PVC pipe squarely. Remove all burrs and clean the mating surfaces of both the pipe and the fitting sockets.

Step 2: Prime Surfaces
Apply PVC Primer to the outside of the pipe and the inside of the fitting sockets. Do not prime the threaded outlet.

Step 3: Apply Glue
While the primer is wet, apply PVC Glue to the pipe and fitting. Insert the pipe immediately, twist 1/4 turn to spread the cement, and hold for 30 seconds.

Step 4: Install Threaded Component
Wrap Teflon tape around your riser or sprinkler threads. Screw it into the FPT side outlet of the elbow. Hand-tighten, then give it a partial turn with a wrench if necessary. Do not overtighten.

✔ Compatibility Check

Verify your connections before buying:

  • Slip Ends: These unthreaded sockets fit OVER standard Schedule 40 or 80 PVC pipe of the same size.
  • Threaded Outlet: The side outlet is Female Pipe Thread (FPT). It accepts Male Pipe Thread (MPT) risers or fittings.
  • Not for Hoses: This does NOT fit garden hose threads.

Complete Your System

Essential tools and parts for a professional installation:

  • PVC Primer: Required to clean and soften the PVC for bonding.
  • PVC Glue: The solvent cement needed to fuse the pipe to the fitting.
  • Thread Seal Tape: Essential for a leak-free seal on the threaded side outlet.
  • Pipe Cutters: Ensure clean, square cuts for leak-free joints.
