Description

Seamless Threaded Connections. Reliable Extensions.

The Schedule 40 PVC Threaded Coupling (FPT x FPT) is the essential link for joining two male-threaded components in a straight line. Whether you are connecting two PVC Nipples to extend a manifold or attaching a riser to a male adapter, this coupling provides a secure, leak-resistant union without the need for solvent welding.

As one of our most practical irrigation fittings, it features high-quality Female Pipe Threads (FPT) on both ends. This design allows for easy disassembly and maintenance, making it ideal for sections of your system that may need future adjustments or repairs.

Why Choose a Threaded Coupling?
  • Glue-Free Assembly: Installs purely by threading, eliminating the mess and cure time associated with PVC glue and primer.
  • System Flexibility: Allows you to extend risers or join threaded pipes in a way that can be unscrewed later if system changes are required.
  • Dura Quality: Molded from virgin PVC Type I, Grade I resin, ensuring high impact strength and resistance to chemical corrosion.
  • Standard Fit: Compatible with any Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 male-threaded fitting of the same size.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Secure threaded connections properly to prevent leaks.

Step 1: Inspect Threads
Ensure the male threads on your connecting parts (nipples/risers) are clean and free of debris.

Step 2: Apply Tape
Wrap Thread Seal Tape clockwise around the male threads. 3 to 5 wraps is standard for PVC.

Step 3: Hand Tighten
Screw the coupling onto the first component by hand until snug. Repeat for the second component.

Step 4: Final Seal
Use pliers or a wrench to turn the coupling an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Do not overtighten, as this can split the plastic coupling.

✔ Compatibility Check

Verify your connection type:

  • Both Ends: Female Pipe Thread (FPT).
  • Fits: Male Pipe Thread (MPT) components like Nipples, Male Adapters, or Risers.
  • Does NOT Fit: Smooth PVC Pipe (Slip/Socket). You cannot glue pipe into this fitting.

Complete Your System

Everything you need for a leak-free threaded assembly:

  • Thread Seal Tape: Mandatory for sealing the threads to prevent water loss.
  • PVC Nipples: Schedule 80 gray nipples are commonly joined by these couplings.
  • Male Adapters: Convert a slip line to threads to connect into this coupling.
