How to Care for Plants over Winter: Keep Your Plants Protected During Cold Months
Jan 7th 2026
The Schedule 40 PVC Threaded Cap is the reusable solution for terminating threaded pipe runs or closing off unused ports on a manifold. Unlike a glued slip cap, this fitting features Female Pipe Threads (FPT) that screw onto any standard PVC fitting or male adapter.
This design is ideal for creating "clean-out" points at the end of a mainline or temporarily capping off a sprinkler riser for future expansion. Manufactured by Dura Plastics, these caps provide a water-tight seal when used with thread tape, yet remain easy to remove for winterization or system flushing.
Match the cap size to the Male Thread you are covering.
| Size | Connection Type | Dura MPN |
|---|---|---|
| 1/2" | 1/2" Female Pipe Thread (FPT) | 448-005 |
| 3/4" | 3/4" Female Pipe Thread (FPT) | 448-007 |
| 1" | 1" Female Pipe Thread (FPT) | 448-010 |
| Material | Schedule 40 PVC (White) | |
| Standards | ASTM D-2466, NSF-PW | |
Secure connection without glue.
Step 1: Prep the Threads
Clean the male threads of the nipple or fitting you are capping. Apply thread seal tape (Teflon tape) wrapping 3-4 times in a clockwise direction.
Step 2: Install Cap
Screw the cap onto the taped threads by hand until snug.
Step 3: Tighten
Use a wrench or pliers to turn the cap one additional half-turn. Do not overtighten, as this can split the PVC cap.
Step 4: Pressurize
Turn on the water to test for leaks. If a drip occurs, tighten slightly more.
Ensure this matches your needs:
