This installation requires both solvent welding and threading.
Step 1: Prep the Slip Connection
Clean the outside of your PVC pipe and the inside of the adapter's slip socket. Apply PVC Primer to both surfaces to soften the plastic.
Step 2: Solvent Weld
Apply PVC Glue to the primed areas. Immediately push the adapter onto the pipe, twisting a quarter turn to distribute the cement. Hold for 30 seconds to set.
Step 3: Prep the Threads
Wrap the Male Pipe Threads (MPT) with Teflon tape (usually 3-4 wraps). Do not use pipe dope on plastic threads unless it is specifically rated for PVC.
Step 4: Connect Threaded Component
Screw the adapter into your female threaded valve or fitting. Hand-tighten firmly, then use a wrench for one additional turn. Caution: Over-tightening can crack plastic fittings.
