Description

Seamlessly Transition from Pipe to Threads.

The Schedule 40 PVC Male Adapter (S x MPT) is an essential fitting for building professional irrigation manifolds and system headers. It features a smooth Slip connection on one end for solvent welding to PVC pipe, and a Male Pipe Thread (MPT) on the other for connecting to threaded components.

Whether you are installing electric solenoid valves, filters, or regulators, this adapter provides the necessary bridge between your hard-piped water source and your system components. Manufactured from durable Schedule 40 PVC, it ensures a corrosion-resistant and high-strength connection for your irrigation projects.

Why Choose Schedule 40 PVC?
  • Professional Versatility: The standard MPT threads allow you to connect PVC pipe to virtually any Female Pipe Thread (FPT) equipment, including pumps and backflow preventers.
  • Permanent Bond: The slip socket side uses solvent cement to create a fused, leak-proof joint that becomes stronger than the pipe itself.
  • Corrosion Resistant: Unlike metal fittings, PVC will not rust, scale, or pit, ensuring a long lifespan even in damp soil conditions.
  • High Compatibility: Compatible with all standard Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC piping of the same trade size.
  • Cost-Effective: Provides a robust industrial-grade solution at a fraction of the cost of metal alternatives.

Understanding compatibility is key. This fitting adapts Glue connections to Threaded connections.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps for a leak-free PVC to Thread connection.

Step 1: Prepare the Pipe
Cut your PVC pipe squarely and remove any burrs. Clean the pipe and the slip socket of the adapter with PVC primer.

Step 2: Glue the Connection
Apply a fresh coat of PVC glue and primer to both the outside of the pipe and the inside of the adapter socket. Push the adapter firmly onto the pipe with a quarter-turn twist and hold for 30 seconds to set.

Step 3: Prepare the Threads
Apply 3-5 wraps of thread seal tape to the Male Pipe Threads (MPT) of the adapter. Wrap in a clockwise direction.

Step 4: Connect the Component
Screw the adapter into your Female Pipe Thread (FPT) valve, filter, or fitting. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench to turn it an additional 1-2 turns. Do not overtighten, as this may crack the PVC.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure you have the right connection types:

  • Slip Side: Fits over standard Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC Pipe of the same trade size. (Requires Glue).
  • Thread Side: Fits into standard Female Pipe Threads (FPT).
  • It will NOT fit directly into Garden Hose Threads (GHT) without an additional adapter.
  • It will NOT connect to Poly Tubing directly (requires a separate Easy Loc adapter).

Complete Your System

Ensure your installation is successful with these essential supplies:

  • PVC Glue & Accessories: Everything you need to complete your PVC system and create a permanent bond.
  • Thread Seal Tape: Prevents leaks on the threaded side of the connection.
  • Valves: Commonly used to connect AC or DC valves to a PVC manifold.
  • PVC Fittings: Explore our full range of Schedule 40 and 80 fittings to find the specific connectors you need to complete your irrigation manifold.
