Description

Transitions Made Simple. Secure Threaded Connections.

The Schedule 40 PVC Male Adapter is the essential bridge between your rigid piping system and threaded components. Featuring a Slip x Male Pipe Thread (MPT) configuration, this fitting allows you to solvent weld one side directly to standard PVC pipe while providing a threaded outlet on the other. It is the industry standard for connecting valves, filters, and regulators to your main water line.

Reliable and durable, these adapters are among the most critical irrigation fittings for building professional manifolds. When installing the threaded end, we highly recommend using thread seal tape to ensure a watertight seal without risking damage to the plastic threads.

Why Choose Dura Schedule 40 Adapters?
  • Seamless Transition: Effortlessly converts a "glue-style" pipe end to a standard Male Pipe Thread (MPT), making it easy to attach threaded equipment.
  • Precision Molding: Manufactured by Dura Plastics to ASTM D-2466 standards, ensuring consistent thread pitch and socket depth.
  • Chemical Resistance: The high-quality PVC construction resists corrosion from fertilizers, acids, and soil salts, ensuring a long lifespan underground.
  • High-Pressure Rating: Schedule 40 durability makes these adapters suitable for the high-pressure side of your irrigation system (before the regulator).
  • NSF Certified: Safe for use in potable water systems.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

This installation requires both solvent welding and threading.

Step 1: Prep the Slip Connection
Clean the outside of your PVC pipe and the inside of the adapter's slip socket. Apply PVC Primer to both surfaces to soften the plastic.

Step 2: Solvent Weld
Apply PVC Glue to the primed areas. Immediately push the adapter onto the pipe, twisting a quarter turn to distribute the cement. Hold for 30 seconds to set.

Step 3: Prep the Threads
Wrap the Male Pipe Threads (MPT) with Teflon tape (usually 3-4 wraps). Do not use pipe dope on plastic threads unless it is specifically rated for PVC.

Step 4: Connect Threaded Component
Screw the adapter into your female threaded valve or fitting. Hand-tighten firmly, then use a wrench for one additional turn. Caution: Over-tightening can crack plastic fittings.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure this adapter fits your system:

  • Slip End: Fits OVER standard Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC pipe of the same size.
  • Threaded End: Compatible with Female Pipe Thread (FPT) fittings, such as ball valves, filters, or tees.
  • Not for: Garden Hose Threads (GHT) or compression tubing connections.

Complete Your System

Everything you need for a professional PVC installation:

  • PVC Primer: Essential for preparing the slip connection for a strong bond.
  • PVC Glue: The solvent cement required to weld the adapter to the pipe.
  • Thread Seal Tape: Prevents leaks on the threaded connection side.
  • Pipe Cutters: Ensure square, burr-free cuts on your PVC pipe.
