Description

Turn and Adapt. The 90° Hybrid Solution.

The Schedule 40 PVC Combination Elbow is a versatile fitting designed to make a 90-degree turn while simultaneously transitioning from a glued pipe to a threaded connection. Featuring one Slip (Socket) end and one Female Pipe Thread (FIPT) end, this elbow allows you to terminate a PVC pipe run with a secure threaded outlet.

This fitting is widely used in irrigation systems for creating "swing joints" to mount sprinkler heads or for connecting threaded valves at the corner of a manifold. By combining the elbow and adapter into a single unit, it ensures a compact, leak-resistant installation.

Why Choose Dura Schedule 40 PVC?
  • Dual Functionality: Handles both the directional change (90°) and the connection type change (Glue to Thread) in one piece.
  • Versatile Threaded Outlet: The FIPT end accepts any standard Male Pipe Thread (MIPT) component, including risers, nipples, and funny pipe elbows.
  • Professional Quality: Molded from virgin PVC resin, meeting ASTM D-2466 standards for structural integrity and pressure ratings.
  • Durability: Highly resistant to corrosion, rust, and chemical fertilizers, ensuring a long lifespan in underground applications.
  • NSF Certified: Approved for use in potable (drinking) water systems.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps for a secure hybrid connection.

Step 1: Prep the Slip Side
Clean your PVC pipe end and the slip socket of the elbow. Apply PVC Primer to both surfaces to prepare the plastic.

Step 2: Glue the Pipe
Apply PVC Glue to the primed areas. Immediately push the pipe into the elbow socket, twisting a quarter turn to spread the glue. Hold for 30 seconds.

Step 3: Prep the Threads
Wrap the male threads of your accessory (riser, nipple, etc.) with thread seal tape. Apply 3-4 wraps in a clockwise direction.

Step 4: Connect Threaded Side
Screw the male component into the FIPT outlet of the elbow. Hand-tighten until snug, then give it a final turn with pliers if needed. Do not overtighten.

✔ Compatibility Check

Check your connection types:

  • Slip Side: Fits standard PVC Pipe (Requires Glue).
  • Threaded Side: Fits Male Pipe Thread (MIPT) components.
  • It will NOT accept threaded pipe in the slip socket.
  • It will NOT accept glued pipe in the threaded socket.

Complete Your System

Ensure a successful installation with these essentials:

  • PVC Primer: Essential for preparing the slip connection for a permanent bond.
  • PVC Glue: The solvent cement required to attach the elbow to your pipe.
  • Thread Seal Tape: Mandatory for sealing the threaded connection against leaks.
  • PVC Risers: Screw 1/2", 3/4", or 1"+ risers directly into the threaded elbow.
  • Pipe Cutters: Ensure clean, square cuts with our 1", 1-1/2", 2", or Fiskars cutters.
