Description

Water-Smart Coverage for Small-to-Medium Zones. Up to 30% Less Water Than Spray Nozzles.

The Hunter MP Rotator MP1000 is the industry's most trusted high-efficiency rotary nozzle for small and medium-sized turf and landscape areas. Using a unique multi-trajectory rotating stream delivery system, the MP1000 applies water slowly and evenly at a precipitation rate of approximately 0.4 in/hr — the lowest in the industry — dramatically reducing runoff, ponding, and water waste compared to conventional spray nozzles. Hunter research demonstrates up to 30% water savings when switching from traditional spray heads to MP Rotators.

The MP1000 is designed for a throw radius of 8 to 15 feet and is available in two configurations sold here at DripWorks: the MPR10-90 (Maroon), with an adjustable arc from 90° to 210°, and the MPR10-360 (Olive), a fixed full-circle pattern ideal for open, unobstructed turf areas. Both models thread onto any standard spray body using a female thread inlet, making them a direct retrofit for most existing pop-up spray heads in the field. The nozzle arc is only adjustable while the MP Rotator is running — a built-in vandal-resistance feature that prevents unauthorized tampering.

Unique automatic matched precipitation technology ensures that all nozzles in a zone — regardless of arc setting — apply water at the same rate, so you never have to swap nozzles when changing arc angles. The double-pop feature keeps the nozzle retracted until the riser is fully extended, protecting internal components from dirt and debris. A removable inlet filter screen makes cleaning fast and simple. The radius is also adjustable by up to 25% — run at 30 PSI for minimum radius, 40 PSI for nominal radius settings.

DripWorks includes a complimentary MP Rotator Adjustment Tool (MPRTOOL) automatically with each qualifying order. Need coverage for a larger zone? Consider the MP2000 or MP3000 Rotator nozzles, which cover radii up to 21' and 30' respectively. For complete spray body compatibility, browse DripWorks' full selection of spray bodies.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between the MPR10-90 (Maroon) and MPR10-360 (Olive)?
Both cover the same 8'–15' radius range and have the same 0.4 in/hr precipitation rate. The MPR10-90 (Maroon) has an adjustable arc that can be set anywhere from 90° to 210° — ideal for corners, edges, and irregular landscape shapes. The MPR10-360 (Olive) is a fixed full-circle pattern with no arc adjustment, best suited for open, round turf areas with no obstacles. Both are available as options on this product page.

Can I install the MP1000 on my existing spray heads?
Yes. The MP1000 uses a standard female thread inlet and is designed to retrofit directly onto any conventional pop-up spray body or shrub adapter. This makes it an easy, low-cost upgrade for existing irrigation systems without replacing any underground components. Just unscrew the old nozzle and thread on the MP Rotator.

How do I adjust the arc on the MPR10-90?
The arc can only be adjusted while the nozzle is running — this is an intentional vandal-resistance design. Use the included MP Rotator Adjustment Tool (or the MPRTOOL available from DripWorks) while the system is operating to turn the arc collar and set your desired coverage pattern between 90° and 210°.

What does "matched precipitation" mean and why does it matter?
Matched precipitation means that all MP Rotator nozzles in a zone apply water at approximately the same rate (0.4 in/hr) regardless of arc setting. In traditional spray nozzle systems, a 90° nozzle applies more water per square foot than a 180° nozzle, causing uneven watering. The MP Rotator eliminates this problem automatically, so you can mix arc settings in a zone without creating dry or wet spots — and without swapping nozzles.

What pressure is needed to run the MP1000?
The recommended operating pressure is 40 PSI for nominal radius performance. The nozzle will operate within a range of 30–55 PSI. Running at 30 PSI delivers the minimum radius (for tighter spacing situations). If your supply pressure exceeds 55 PSI, use a pressure regulator to stay within the recommended range and protect the nozzle from pressure-induced misting. Hunter recommends pairing with the Pro-Spray PRS40 body for 40 PSI regulation or the Pro-Spray PRS30 for 30 PSI minimum radius settings.

How much can I reduce the throw radius?
The radius is adjustable by up to approximately 25% on all MP1000 models. You achieve the maximum radius reduction by operating at the minimum recommended pressure of 30 PSI. This flexibility is useful for fitting nozzles into tighter spacing without changing the nozzle model.

What is the MP1000 compatible with? Do I need a specific spray body?
The MP1000 threads onto any standard spray body with a female-threaded riser. For optimal performance, Hunter recommends pairing with the Pro-Spray PRS40 pop-up body (pressure-regulating to 40 PSI) or the Pro-Spray PRS30 body (for 30 PSI minimum radius). ✔ Compatibility Check

Before you install, verify the following:

  • Spray Body: The MP1000 uses a standard female thread inlet and fits any conventional pop-up spray body or shrub adapter. For pressure regulation built into the body, pair with a Hunter Pro-Spray PRS40 or PRS30 body.
  • Water Pressure: Best performance at 40 PSI. Operates between 30–55 PSI. Use a pressure regulator if your supply pressure exceeds 55 PSI.
  • Coverage Area: Radius ranges from 8'–15' depending on pressure. Space heads at or below the maximum radius for proper head-to-head coverage. For larger zones (up to 30'), consider the MP2000 or MP3000 nozzles.
  • Arc Selection: Choose the MPR10-90 (Maroon) for corners and irregular shapes (adjustable 90°–210°) or the MPR10-360 (Olive) for open, unobstructed circular areas.
  • Mixed Zones: MP Rotators should not be mixed with standard spray nozzles on the same zone due to the significant difference in precipitation rates. Use a dedicated zone for MP Rotators.

Complete Your Irrigation System

Pair your MP Rotator nozzles with these essential components for a complete, efficient system:

  • Spray Bodies: Pop-up spray bodies to mount your MP Rotator nozzles. Pressure-regulating bodies (PRS30/PRS40) are ideal for maximizing performance.
  • MP Rotator Adjustment Tool: Required for arc adjustment while the system is running. One tool ships complimentary with qualifying orders.
  • Irrigation Timers & Controllers: Automate your watering schedule with battery-operated or AC-powered controllers compatible with standard solenoid valves.
  • Pressure Regulators: Keep operating pressure within the 30–55 PSI range for consistent, efficient performance.
  • Funny Pipe & Swing Joints: Flexible swing joints help protect spray bodies and lateral pipe connections from mower and foot traffic damage.
  • MP2000 & MP3000 Rotary Nozzles: Larger-radius MP Rotator options for zones requiring 13'–30' coverage with the same matched precipitation rate.
