Description

High-Flow Direction Change. Heavy-Duty Connection.

The Dura 1 1/2" Barbed Elbow is a robust insert fitting designed to create a secure 90-degree turn in large-diameter polyethylene tubing. Built for high-volume agricultural and commercial systems, this elbow allows you to route your 1 1/2" mainline around corners or obstacles without kinking the pipe. Because this fitting handles significant water volume, it must be secured with hose clamps to prevent blowouts under pressure.

Reliable and cost-effective, Dura insert fittings are essential irrigation fittings for growers who need to move large amounts of water efficiently through oval hose or standard poly tubing.

Why Choose Dura Insert Fittings?
  • High-Impact Material: Molded from durable gray PVC, these fittings are resistant to chemical fertilizers, UV radiation, and physical impact.
  • Sharp Barbs: The aggressive barb design bites into the inner wall of the tubing, creating a seal that becomes even tighter when clamped.
  • Smooth Flow: The internal surface is engineered to minimize friction loss, ensuring your system maintains pressure even around corners.
  • Versatile: Compatible with any standard 1 1/2" ID (Inside Diameter) polyethylene irrigation tubing.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Large fittings require heat and clamps for a proper seal.

Step 1: Cut & Prep
Cut your 1 1/2" poly tubing squarely. Slide clamp onto the tubing BEFORE inserting the fitting.

Step 2: Heat the Tubing
Large diameter poly tubing is stiff. Use hot water or a heat gun (carefully) to soften the end of the tubing. This makes insertion much easier.

Step 3: Insert Fitting
Push the barbed end of the elbow into the tubing. Rocking it back and forth helps. Ensure the tubing covers all the barbs.

Step 4: Clamp It
Slide the clamp up over the barbed area (but not over the retaining ridges at the end). Tighten firmly with a nut driver.

✔ Compatibility Check

Verify your tubing size:

  • Fits: 1 1/2" ID Polyethylene Tubing or Oval Hose.
  • It will NOT fit 1 1/2" PVC Pipe (White pipe requires glue fittings).
  • It will NOT fit Drip Tape or smaller 1" tubing.
