Description

Navigate Tight Corners. Maintain Maximum Flow.

The 1 1/2" Dura Barbed Elbow is a heavy-duty insert fitting designed for large-scale agricultural and commercial irrigation systems. It allows you to make a sharp 90-degree turn in your 1 1/2" Poly Mainline Tubing (oval hose) without crimping or kinking the hose, ensuring consistent water delivery to your crops.

Manufactured from high-impact grey PVC, this fitting features sharp, multi-barb ridges that grip the inside of the tubing securely. When used with stainless steel worm gear clamps, it creates a permanent, high-pressure connection ideal for feeding large zones, greenhouses, or orchards.

Why Choose Dura Insert Fittings?
  • High-Flow Design: The smooth interior surface minimizes friction loss, allowing for high GPM (Gallons Per Minute) flow rates essential for large systems.
  • Heavy-Duty Construction: Molded from Schedule 40 PVC, these fittings are chemically resistant and durable enough to withstand harsh outdoor conditions and underground burial.
  • Secure Grip: The aggressive barb design "bites" into the inner wall of the tubing, preventing pull-outs when properly clamped.
  • Kink Prevention: Bending large poly tubing around corners often causes flow-restricting kinks. This elbow solves that problem instantly.
  • Professional Grade: Trusted by growers and landscapers for creating reliable headers and manifolds.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Installing large insert fittings requires leverage and clamps. Follow these steps for a secure fit.

Step 1: Prep the Tubing
Cut your 1 1/2" poly tubing squarely. Tip: For larger tubing, softening the end with hot water or leaving it in the sun for a few minutes makes installation significantly easier.

Step 2: Position the Clamps
Slide a stainless steel worm gear clamp onto each section of tubing before inserting the fitting.

Step 3: Insert the Elbow
Push the barbed ends of the elbow securely into the tubing until the tubing completely covers all barbs and sits flush against the fitting body. A rocking motion helps.

Step 4: Secure the Clamps
Slide the clamps up so they are positioned over the barbs (but not at the very edge). Tighten firmly using a nut driver or flathead screwdriver to ensure a leak-proof seal.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure you have the right size tubing:

  • Compatible With: 1 1/2" Polyethylene Tubing (Measured by Inside Diameter).
  • Requires: Metal Worm Gear Clamps for a secure seal.
  • It will NOT fit standard Schedule 40 PVC Pipe (unless glued into a slip fitting, but this is a barbed insert).
  • It will NOT fit 1" or 2" tubing.
