Description

Start Your System. Secure & Simple.

The 1/2" Compression Female Hose Start is the fundamental connection point for many drip systems, bridging the gap between your water source and your distribution line. Designed with a swivel 3/4" Female Hose Thread (FHT) on one side and a compression fitting on the other, it allows you to attach 1/2" polyethylene tubing directly to a faucet, hose bibb, or pressure regulator.

As one of our most cost-effective irrigation fittings, this adapter utilizes a friction-fit design to secure the tubing. By simply pushing the tubing into the fitting, an internal compression ring creates a tight, water-resistant seal without the need for glue or clamps. It is an ideal choice for gardeners looking for a reliable, low-profile start to their system downstream from a hose thread filter.

Why Choose Compression Fittings?
  • Swivel Connection: The female hose thread side features a swivel washer, allowing you to tighten the fitting onto a faucet or timer without twisting the entire tubing line.
  • Strong Friction Grip: The internal design grips the tubing tightly; once inserted, the tubing is difficult to pull out, ensuring it won't blow off under normal operating pressures (up to 30 PSI recommended).
  • Economical: Compression fittings are often the most affordable choice for 1/2" mainline connections, making them perfect for large-scale or budget-conscious projects.
  • Compact Profile: The streamlined black body blends in well with the tubing and landscape, avoiding the bulk of some screw-cap fittings.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Secure your start connection in seconds.

Step 1: Check the Washer
Ensure the rubber hose washer is seated inside the 3/4" Female Hose Thread swivel end. This is critical for a leak-free connection to your faucet or timer.

Step 2: Connect to Source
Screw the female threaded end onto your hose bibb, timer, filter, or pressure regulator. Hand-tighten only; do not use wrenches.

Step 3: Prepare Tubing
Cut your 1/2" poly tubing cleanly and squarely. If it's cold out, you may want to dip the end of the tubing in warm water or leave it in the sun to soften it slightly.

Step 4: Push to Connect
Push the tubing into the compression end of the fitting while "rocking" it back and forth. Apply force until the tubing slides inside the internal ring (about 1/2" to 3/4" deep). Give it a tug to ensure it is locked in place.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure this fits your system components:

  • Tubing Side: Fits standard 1/2" Poly Tubing with a .700" Outer Diameter (OD).
  • Threaded Side: Fits standard 3/4" Male Hose Threads (MHT), found on most outdoor faucets and hose timers.
  • Does NOT Fit: 1/2" Drip Tape, Raindrip (.620" OD) tubing, or Pipe Threads (PVC/Iron).
  • Note: Compression fittings are permanent. Tubing cannot be easily removed once inserted.

Complete Your System

Build a reliable irrigation setup with these matching essentials:

  • 1/2" Poly Tubing: The standard distribution line that fits this compression adapter.
  • Figure 8 End: A simple, low-cost way to close off the end of your tubing run.
  • Wire Hold Downs: Keep your tubing secure and flat against the ground.
  • Punch Tool: Essential for inserting emitters or 1/4" barbs into your new mainline.
