Description

Compact Turns. Tighter Manifolds.

The Schedule 40 PVC Street Elbow is the professional's secret weapon for building compact valve manifolds and saving space in tight irrigation boxes. Unlike a standard elbow, a "Street" elbow features one end that fits inside another fitting (or valve), eliminating the need for a short pipe nipple.

Available in multiple configurations—including MPT x FPT, Spigot x Slip, and MPT x Slip—these Dura Plastics fittings allow you to make immediate 90-degree turns directly from a tee, valve, or filter. They are molded from durable, chemical-resistant Schedule 40 PVC, perfect for both residential and commercial water systems.

Whether you are assembling a new valve box or retrofitting an existing setup, these durable connectors are essential irrigation fittings for maintaining a clean and professional layout. By reducing the number of connection points, they not only save space but also minimize the potential for leaks in your system.

Why Use a Street Elbow?
  • Space Saving: By inserting directly into a socket or thread, you reduce the overall length of your assembly, which is critical in cramped valve boxes.
  • Fewer Leaks: Eliminating the intermediate "nipple" removes two potential leak points from your system.
  • Versatile Configurations:
    • MPT x FPT: Perfect for creating threaded "swing joints" for sprinklers.
    • Spigot x Slip: Ideal for gluing directly into a PVC Tee or Elbow.
  • Professional Grade: Manufactured in the USA by Dura Plastics, meeting ASTM D-2466 standards for pressure applications.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Installation depends on the connection type.

For Threaded Ends (MPT/FPT):
Apply 3-4 wraps of thread seal tape to the male threads. Screw the fitting in by hand until snug, then add one half-turn with pliers. Do not overtighten.

For Solvent Weld Ends (Slip/Spigot):
1. Clean both surfaces (the pipe/spigot and the socket).
2. Apply PVC Primer to both surfaces.
3. Apply PVC Glue while primer is wet.
4. Insert fully, twist a quarter turn, and hold for 30 seconds.

✔ Compatibility Check

Know your terms:

  • MPT: Male Pipe Thread (Threads on outside).
  • FPT: Female Pipe Thread (Threads on inside).
  • Spigot (Spg): Fits INSIDE a standard PVC hub (same OD as pipe).
  • Slip (Socket): Fits OVER standard PVC pipe.
  • Note: Verify whether you need threaded or glue-in connections before ordering.

Complete Your System

Get the right tools for a leak-proof connection:

  • Thread Seal Tape: Essential for all MPT/FPT threaded connections.
  • PVC Glue: Required for all Slip and Spigot connections.
  • PVC Primer: The critical first step for a permanent weld.
  • Manifold Tees: Combine with street elbows to build a professional valve manifold.
