Description

High-Capacity 4-Way Connection for Schedule 40 Systems

The PVC Slip Cross is a heavy-duty Schedule 40 fitting engineered to create a central four-way intersection in your pressurized mainline. This cross features four non-threaded slip (socket) connections, allowing four separate PVC pipes to be joined at a 90-degree angle using solvent cement.

Ideal for building complex manifolds or splitting a water supply into multiple zones for valves and sub-laterals, this fitting guarantees a permanent, leak-proof weld. The robust construction is rated for the high pressures common in professional irrigation and water transfer applications, especially when combined with quality PVC Glue and PVC Primer.

Why Choose Dura Schedule 40 PVC Crosses?
  • Maximum Routing: The most efficient fitting for branching water flow into four directions from a single, central point.
  • Pressure Ready: Manufactured to Schedule 40 standards (ASTM D-2466) for superior wall thickness and maximum resistance to internal water pressure.
  • Permanent Bond: Designed specifically for solvent welding, guaranteeing a joint that is stronger than the pipe itself when properly installed.
  • Chemical Resistance: The non-corrosive PVC material resists degradation from soil, fertilizers, and common agricultural chemicals.
  • NSF Certified: Approved for use in potable (drinking) water systems.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

A successful solvent-weld connection requires speed and cleanliness.

Step 1: Cut and Clean
Use a PVC pipe cutter to cut the pipe square. Deburr and chamfer the pipe ends, then wipe away any dust, grease, or moisture from the pipe and the interior of the cross ports.

Step 2: Prime Surfaces
Apply PVC Primer (required for pipe diameters 1" and up) to the pipe end and the interior of the fitting socket. Work quickly, as the primer softens the plastic rapidly.

Step 3: Apply Cement
Apply an even coat of PVC Glue to the primed surfaces. Apply a heavier coat to the pipe end than to the fitting socket.

Step 4: Join and Hold
Insert the pipe fully into the cross port (until it seats at the bottom stop). Rotate the pipe a quarter turn to distribute the cement evenly and hold the joint firmly for 30 seconds to prevent the pipe from pushing out. Wait for the recommended cure time before pressurizing the system.

✔ Compatibility Check

Key fitting requirements:

  • Pipe Type: Designed exclusively for Schedule 40 PVC Pipe (OD is the same for all Schedule pipe types). It will NOT fit Low Density Poly Tubing.
  • Connection Type: The ports are smooth-walled (Slip) and require PVC Solvent Cement (Glue). They are NOT intended for use with thread seal tape.
  • Threading: It is NOT compatible with female or male NPT threaded connections. Use a PVC Male Adapter if threads are required.
  • Pipe Material: It will NOT bond with CPVC or ABS pipes.

Complete Your System

Get everything you need for a permanent, high-integrity PVC installation:

  • PVC Glue: Professional grade solvent cement for a high-strength permanent bond.
  • PVC Primer: Essential for softening the PVC surface to ensure proper solvent welding.
  • Heavy-Duty PVC Pipe Cutter: Essential for making the clean, square cuts required for a perfect seal.
  • PVC Slip Caps: The ideal solution for terminating individual branches of the cross when not all four ports are in use.
  • PVC Slip Coupling: Useful for repairs or joining two straight sections of pipe to match your cross pipe size.
