Description

Smoother Flow. Precision Routing.

The Schedule 40 PVC 45° Elbow (Slip x Slip) is designed to change the direction of your pipe run by 45 degrees, offering a much smoother transition than a sharp 90-degree turn. By reducing turbulence and friction loss, this fitting helps maintain higher water pressure throughout your system. It is one of the most critical irrigation fittings for routing lines around garden beds, trees, or structural obstacles where a hard angle isn't necessary.

Manufactured from durable white Schedule 40 PVC, this elbow features two socket ends that fit over standard PVC pipe. It requires a solvent weld connection using Blue Hot PVC Glue and primer, creating a permanent, fused joint that is as strong as the pipe itself.

Why Choose a 45° Elbow?
  • Efficient Flow: The gentler angle creates less resistance than a 90° elbow, improving the overall hydraulic efficiency of your mainline.
  • Secure Bonding: The deep socket design provides ample surface area for solvent welding, ensuring a leak-proof and pressure-resistant seal.
  • Dura Quality: Molded from virgin PVC Type I, Grade I resin, meeting ASTM D-2466 standards for structural integrity and chemical resistance.
  • Long-Lasting: UV-stabilized and corrosion-resistant, making it suitable for buried or above-ground applications in harsh environments.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

A proper solvent weld is critical for a leak-free system.

Step 1: Cut & Prep
Cut your PVC pipe square and remove any burrs. Clean the outside of the pipe and the inside of the fitting socket.

Step 2: Prime
Apply Purple Primer to both the pipe end and the fitting socket. This softens the plastic for bonding.

Step 3: Glue
While the primer is still wet, apply a coat of PVC Glue to the pipe and the fitting. Push the pipe fully into the socket, twisting a quarter turn to distribute the cement.

Step 4: Hold
Hold the joint together firmly for 30 seconds to prevent "push-out" as the chemical weld sets.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure this fits your pipe:

  • Connections: Slip / Socket.
  • Fits: OVER standard Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC pipe of the same size.
  • Does NOT Fit: Inside other fittings (unless using a street elbow).
  • Not Threaded: Requires Glue and Primer.
