Description

Protect Your Yard the Smart, Humane Way. No Fences. No Chemicals.

The Orbit 62100 Yard Enforcer® Motion-Activated Sprinkler is the most effective and humane way to keep unwanted animals out of your garden, lawn, flowerbeds, and landscaping — without fences, netting, or chemical repellents. Using a combination of water, motion, and noise, the Yard Enforcer conditions animals to stay away from your protected area. The moment its 120° passive infrared sensor detects heat and movement up to 40 feet away, it triggers a sharp burst of water and an audible click that startles — but never harms — deer, rabbits, squirrels, mice, rats, birds, cats, dogs, and more.

What makes the Yard Enforcer stand out is its combination of smart sensing and flexible coverage. Its Intelligent Sensing technology automatically increases the interval between valve activations to conserve water and battery life, while three selectable detection modes — Day Only, Night Only, and Always On — let you match protection to when your pests are most active. The adjustable infrared range, adjustable spray arc, and heavy-duty metal dual-step spike allow you to position and fine-tune coverage precisely for your yard. At just two cups of water per spray cycle, the Yard Enforcer is remarkably water-efficient.

Beyond deterrence, the Yard Enforcer doubles as a regular impact sprinkler — press the 30-minute watering cycle button for on-demand garden irrigation any time. It connects to a standard garden hose and features a unique flow-through outlet on the riser that lets you daisy-chain additional hoses or sprinklers — so when the sensor fires, all connected sprinklers activate simultaneously. A single unit covers up to 1,600 sq. ft.; with expansion sprinklers, you can extend coverage up to 3,840 sq. ft. in a full circle. Runs on 4 AA alkaline batteries (not included) for up to 7,500 activation cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What animals will the Yard Enforcer deter?
The Yard Enforcer is effective against a wide range of common yard and garden pests, including deer, rabbits, squirrels, mice, rats, birds, cats, dogs, skunks, and opossums. Because it uses only water and noise, it can be safely used even if the animal is a protected species — no harm is done, just a startling burst of water and sound.

How does the motion sensor work?
The Yard Enforcer uses a 120° passive infrared (PIR) sensor that detects both heat and motion. When a warm, moving object (such as an animal) enters the detection zone, the valve opens and the impact sprinkler fires a 3–5 second burst of water. The detection range is adjustable up to 40 feet, and you can rotate the sensor housing to aim it precisely at the area you want to protect.

What are the detection mode options?
You can set the Yard Enforcer to one of four operating modes using the main dial: Day Only (active during daylight hours), Night Only (active after dark), Always On (24-hour protection), or Off. Most garden pests are most active at dawn, dusk, and overnight, so Night Only or Always On modes are typically the most effective.

What is Intelligent Sensing?
Intelligent Sensing is a built-in conservation feature that automatically lengthens the time between valve activations if the same area keeps triggering the sensor. This prevents the unit from constantly firing at a stationary object (like a moving branch) and conserves both water and battery life. You can disable Intelligent Sensing if desired by holding the 30-Minute Water Cycle button for 20 seconds while the dial is in the Off position.

Can I expand coverage beyond one unit?
Yes — the Yard Enforcer features a unique flow-through riser with dual side outlets. You can attach additional hoses and impact sprinklers to these outlets, and all connected sprinklers will fire simultaneously when the sensor is triggered. A single unit covers up to 1,600 sq. ft.; with expansion sprinklers, coverage can reach up to 3,840 sq. ft. in a full circle.

Can I use it as a regular watering sprinkler?
Absolutely. In addition to its pest deterrence function, the Yard Enforcer includes a 30-minute timed watering cycle. Press the dedicated button to activate a continuous 30-minute watering session, completely independent of motion detection. This makes it a dual-purpose tool — pest deterrent and garden irrigator in one.

How do I connect it to my hose?
The Yard Enforcer connects directly to any standard garden hose via its 3/4" GHT brass hose connection. Simply thread your hose onto the inlet at the base of the step-spike. The brass connection resists rust and corrosion. DripWorks carries a full selection of hoses and hose fittings if you need a longer reach.

How do I prepare it for winter?
Before your first hard frost, disconnect the Yard Enforcer from the hose, remove the batteries, drain all water from the unit, and store it indoors in a dry location. Leaving water inside the unit in freezing temperatures can cause permanent damage. See DripWorks' winterization products for additional cold-weather prep supplies.

What batteries does it use and how long do they last?
The Yard Enforcer requires 4 AA alkaline batteries (not included). Orbit rates battery life at up to 7,500 activation cycles per set. Actual battery life will vary based on frequency of activation and whether Intelligent Sensing is enabled. Only use fresh alkaline batteries — do not mix old and new batteries or use rechargeable batteries.

Watch: Orbit Yard Enforcer Overview & Setup

✔ Setup & Compatibility Check

Before you install, keep the following in mind:

  • Hose Connection: Requires a standard 3/4" GHT garden hose. The brass inlet connection is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Make sure your hose reaches the location where you want to place the unit.
  • Ground Conditions: The metal dual-step spike needs to be pushed firmly into soil. If the ground is hard or compacted, pre-water the area first to soften it before installing.
  • Sensor Aim: For best detection, angle the sensor approximately 10 degrees away from the ground and aim it toward the bulk of the animal's body — higher for deer, lower for rabbits and cats.
  • Batteries: Install 4 fresh AA alkaline batteries before first use. The battery tray slides out from the back of the sensor unit and is waterproof.
  • Winterization: Remove from hose, drain water, and store indoors before freezing temperatures arrive to prevent damage.
