Description

Consistent Pressure. Less Waste. Professional Results.

The Irritrol I-PRO Spray Body with 30 PSI Pressure Regulator (PIRPRO) is a professional-grade fixed-spray sprinkler body engineered to deliver reliable, uniform coverage in residential and commercial landscape irrigation zones. Available in 4" and 6" pop-up heights, this spray body features an integrated in-riser pressure regulator that locks nozzle pressure at a constant 30 PSI — regardless of fluctuations in your supply pressure. The result is a dramatic reduction in misting, overspray, and runoff that plagues zones running at excessive pressure.

What makes the I-PRO stand out from standard spray bodies is its combination of smart engineering and field-tested durability. The pressure-activated wiper seal with an advanced lubricant additive actively cleans the stem on every pop-up cycle, virtually eliminating stick-ups that frustrate installers and homeowners alike. The tapered lip design prevents debris from entering the body, while a heavy-duty stainless steel retraction spring ensures the head retracts cleanly every time. The ratcheting riser — renowned as the easiest in the industry — adjusts effortlessly even with wet hands and stays firmly in position cycle after cycle.

The I-PRO PR Series is EPA WaterSense® certified, meaning it has been independently verified to meet strict water efficiency standards — an important requirement in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Washington, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Washington D.C., where pressure-regulating spray bodies are now mandated. Need a version with a built-in check valve to prevent low-head drainage? DripWorks also carries a full range of spray body options. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does the integrated pressure regulator do, and why does it matter?
The I-PRO PR's in-riser pressure regulator automatically limits water pressure at the nozzle to a constant 30 PSI, regardless of what the supply pressure is. Many residential systems operate well above 50–60 PSI, which causes spray nozzles to mist and fog rather than deliver a clean, consistent arc. That mist drifts off-target, evaporates quickly, and wastes water. By capping pressure at 30 PSI, the I-PRO PR ensures every head on your zone performs identically — better coverage uniformity, less runoff, and real water savings.

Is this spray body required in my state?
Pressure-regulating spray bodies are now legally required in several states. As of current mandates, Vermont, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Washington, Massachusetts, and Washington D.C. all require EPA WaterSense-certified, pressure-regulated spray bodies for new irrigation installations. The I-PRO PR Series is EPA WaterSense® certified and fully compliant with these requirements.

Can I retrofit this body into an existing Rain Bird 1800 installation?
Yes. The I-PRO riser is designed to fit directly into a Rain Bird® 1800® Series body, making it a drop-in upgrade for older systems. This allows you to add pressure regulation and a modern wiper seal to an existing installation without digging up and replacing the full body.

What is the ratcheting riser, and how do I adjust it?
The ratcheting riser is a two-piece mechanism that allows you to rotate and lock the riser height adjustment without tools. It is designed to be adjusted even while the system is operating under pressure or when your hands are wet — something competing spray bodies struggle with. Once set, the riser will not slip out of adjustment during normal operation.

What is the difference between the I-PRO PR and the I-PRO PR-CV?
The I-PRO PR (this product) includes the integrated 30 PSI pressure regulator but does not include a check valve. The I-PRO PR-CV adds a built-in check valve that prevents low-head drainage — the tendency for water to drain out of the lowest heads on a zone after the valve closes. If your system has significant elevation changes or low spots, the PR-CV version is recommended.

What supply pressure does this body require to operate properly?
The I-PRO PR is designed to operate with a supply pressure between 40 and 75 PSI. The in-riser regulator reduces that pressure to 30 PSI at the nozzle. Do not use this body if your supply pressure is below 40 PSI, as there will not be enough differential pressure for the regulator to function correctly. If your system pressure exceeds 75 PSI, a dedicated upstream pressure regulator is recommended.

Is this body compatible with smart irrigation controllers?
Yes. The I-PRO PR is a standard fixed-spray body that works within any irrigation system controlled by solenoid valves, including smart controllers from Rachio, Hunter, Orbit B-Hyve, and others. DripWorks carries a full range of compatible timers and controllers to automate your irrigation schedule.

✔ Compatibility Check

Before you install, verify the following:

  • Supply Pressure: This body requires a supply pressure of 40–75 PSI to function correctly. It will not pressure-regulate properly below 40 PSI. Use an upstream pressure regulator if your supply exceeds 75 PSI.
  • Inlet Size: This body uses a 1/2" female-threaded (FNPT) inlet. Verify your lateral pipe or swing joint fittings are sized to match.
  • Low-Head Drainage: If your zone has elevation changes or low spots where water drains out of heads after the valve closes, consider the I-PRO PR-CV version with an integrated check valve instead.
  • State Regulations: If you are in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Washington, Vermont, Massachusetts, or Washington D.C., pressure-regulated and EPA WaterSense-certified spray bodies are legally required. This product meets those requirements.

Complete Your Irrigation System

Pair your I-PRO PR spray bodies with these essential components for a fully functional, water-efficient system:

  • Sprinkler Nozzles: Matched precipitation rate nozzles available in multiple radii and arc settings. Compatible with any male-threaded riser in the industry.
  • Irrigation Timers & Controllers: Automate your watering schedule with battery-operated or AC-powered smart controllers compatible with standard solenoid valves.
  • Irrigation Valves: Zone control valves to operate each spray circuit independently from your controller.
  • Pressure Regulators: Upstream inline regulators to bring supply pressure within the 40–75 PSI operating range if your system pressure exceeds 75 PSI.
  • Funny Pipe & Swing Joints: Flexible swing joints allow spray heads to deflect under foot traffic or mowing without cracking the lateral pipe connection.
  • Sprinkler Tools: Nozzle pullers, adjustment tools, and specialty tools for professional installation and ongoing maintenance.
