Description

Threaded Transition. Professional Connection.

The Schedule 40 PVC Female Adapter (FPT x Slip) is the essential fitting for transitioning from a standard smooth PVC pipe to a threaded component. It features a solvent weld socket on one side and clean Female Pipe Threads (FPT) on the other. This versatility makes it one of our most popular irrigation fittings for connecting standard PVC lines to male-threaded equipment such as valves, filters, pumps, or metal risers.

Molded from durable Schedule 40 PVC, this adapter provides a secure anchor point for threaded connections. It allows you to build a system where components can be screwed in and removed for maintenance, rather than being permanently glued in place.

Why Choose Dura Female Adapters?
  • Precise Threads: High-quality NPT threading ensures a tight, leak-resistant seal when paired with thread tape.
  • Seamless Transition: The Slip side fits perfectly over standard Schedule 40 pipe, creating a smooth internal flow path.
  • Chemical Resistant: PVC construction resists corrosion from fertilizers, acidic soils, and hard water.
  • Versatile: Ideal for attaching "hard plumbed" lines to sprinkler heads, drip manifolds, or ball valves.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Install carefully to prevent cracking the threads.

Step 1: Glue the Slip Side
Clean and prime the pipe and the adapter socket using Purple Primer. Apply PVC Glue, insert the pipe fully, and hold for 30 seconds.

Step 2: Prepare the Threads
On the Male (MPT) component you are connecting, wrap the threads with 3-5 layers of thread seal tape.

Step 3: Connect
Screw the male component into the Female Adapter by hand until snug.

Step 4: Tighten (With Caution)
Use a wrench to tighten one-half turn past hand tight. Warning: Do not over-tighten! Excessive force can split the female plastic threads.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure you have the right fit:

  • Slip End: Fits OVER standard PVC pipe of the same size.
  • FPT End: Accepts Male Pipe Thread (MPT) fittings or nipples.
  • Not for Glue: Do not use glue on the threaded side.
  • Pressure: Suitable for constant pressure, but avoid over-tightening metal nipples into this plastic fitting.

Complete Your System

Essential components for your installation:

  • Thread Seal Tape: Mandatory for sealing the threaded connection.
  • PVC Glue: Required for the slip connection to the pipe.
  • Purple Primer: Prepares the pipe surface for a strong weld.
  • PVC Nipples: Male threaded nipples often used to connect this adapter to valves or tees.
