How to Care for Plants over Winter: Keep Your Plants Protected During Cold Months

The Schedule 40 PVC Female Adapter (FPT x Slip) is the essential fitting for transitioning from a standard smooth PVC pipe to a threaded component. It features a solvent weld socket on one side and clean Female Pipe Threads (FPT) on the other. This versatility makes it one of our most popular irrigation fittings for connecting standard PVC lines to male-threaded equipment such as valves, filters, pumps, or metal risers.
Molded from durable Schedule 40 PVC, this adapter provides a secure anchor point for threaded connections. It allows you to build a system where components can be screwed in and removed for maintenance, rather than being permanently glued in place.

Install carefully to prevent cracking the threads.
Step 1: Glue the Slip Side
Clean and prime the pipe and the adapter socket using Purple Primer. Apply PVC Glue, insert the pipe fully, and hold for 30 seconds.
Step 2: Prepare the Threads
On the Male (MPT) component you are connecting, wrap the threads with 3-5 layers of thread seal tape.
Step 3: Connect
Screw the male component into the Female Adapter by hand until snug.
Step 4: Tighten (With Caution)
Use a wrench to tighten one-half turn past hand tight. Warning: Do not over-tighten! Excessive force can split the female plastic threads.
