Description

Securely Transition from Pipe to Thread.

The Schedule 40 PVC Female Adapter (FPT x Slip) is the standard fitting for connecting threaded components to a solvent-weld PVC line. Featuring a threaded female outlet on one side and a smooth slip socket on the other, this adapter allows you to integrate male-threaded parts—such as risers, valves, or nipples—directly into your irrigation mainline.

Whether you are building a manifold or attaching a sprinkler head, this adapter provides a durable, leak-proof transition. It is precision-molded from Schedule 40 PVC, ensuring resistance to corrosion, chemical fertilizers, and UV exposure in outdoor environments.

Why Choose Schedule 40 PVC?
  • Versatile Transition: Easily converts a standard PVC pipe end into a Female Pipe Thread (FPT) connection.
  • Professional Grade: Meets ASTM D-2466 standards for pressure-rated fittings, suitable for residential and commercial irrigation.
  • Durable Construction: Heavy-duty PVC withstands pressure surges and environmental stress better than thin-wall alternatives.
  • Secure Seal: The solvent weld hub ensures a permanent bond to the pipe, while the threads allow for removable threaded connections.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

This fitting requires two different connection methods.

Step 1: The Threaded Side
Apply thread seal tape to the male threads of the riser or nipple you are attaching. Screw it into the female end of the adapter. Hand-tighten, then give it one extra turn with a wrench. Do NOT use glue on the threads.

Step 2: Prep for Gluing
Clean the inside of the adapter's slip socket and the outside of your PVC pipe. Remove any dirt or burrs.

Step 3: Prime
Apply PVC Primer to the outside of the pipe and the inside of the adapter socket.

Step 4: Glue and Set
While the primer is wet, apply PVC Glue to both surfaces. Push the adapter fully onto the pipe, twisting a quarter turn to spread the cement. Hold for 30 seconds to bond.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure you have the correct threads and pipe:

  • Slip End: Fits OVER standard Schedule 40 or 80 PVC Pipe of the same size.
  • Threaded End: Accepts Male Pipe Threads (MPT) only.
  • It will NOT accept Garden Hose Threads (GHT).
  • It will NOT fit inside another fitting (unless using a spigot adapter).

Complete Your System

Get everything you need for a professional installation:

  • Thread Seal Tape: Essential for preventing leaks on the threaded connection.
  • PVC Primer: Prepares the surface for a permanent weld.
  • PVC Glue: The solvent cement required to bond the slip side.
  • Valves: Integrate control valves into your PVC manifold.
