Description

Reliable Isolation. Lead-Free Performance.

The Febco Lead-Free Brass Ball Valve with Union is a heavy-duty isolation valve designed for the most demanding sections of your water system. Specifically engineered for use with backflow preventers and main supply lines, this valve features an integrated union that allows for easy removal and maintenance without cutting your pipes.

Whether you are building a new head assembly or upgrading an existing layout, these irrigation fittings provide a quarter-turn, full-port flow that minimizes pressure loss. The "Lead-Free" (LF) construction ensures compliance with safe drinking water regulations, making it suitable for both residential potable water and commercial agricultural applications.

Why Choose Febco Series 622UF?
  • Integrated Union: The single union design allows you to disconnect the valve from the downstream line in seconds, making winterization and backflow testing significantly easier.
  • Quarter-Turn Operation: The durable lever handle provides a clear visual indicator of whether the valve is open or closed and requires minimal effort to operate.
  • Full Port Design: Engineered to match the internal diameter of your pipe, ensuring maximum GPM flow with negligible friction loss.
  • Lead-Free Brass: Constructed from high-quality, corrosion-resistant brass that meets all NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 standards for lead content.
  • Replaceable Components: Features high-quality PTFE seats and a chrome-plated brass ball for a bubble-tight seal and long-term reliability.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

Step 1: Prep Threads
Apply thread seal tape or pipe dope to the male threads of your supply line or backflow device. Do not apply tape to the union nut threads.

Step 2: Install Valve Body
Thread the non-union side of the Febco valve onto your supply line. Use a wrench on the valve body hex flats—never use a pipe wrench on the center of the valve or the handle.

Step 3: Connect the Union
Insert the union tailpiece into the downstream pipe or fitting. Align the valve body with the tailpiece and hand-tighten the large union nut. Finish with a quarter-turn using a wrench to ensure a leak-free seal.

Step 4: Winterization
To winterize, simply loosen the union nut to drain the line or remove the backflow assembly for indoor storage during freezing months.

✔ Compatibility Check

  • Thread Type: Standard NPT (National Pipe Thread). Compatible with PVC risers, galvanized pipe, and brass fittings.
  • Sizing: Ensure the valve size matches your nominal pipe size (e.g., a 3/4" valve fits 3/4" pipe).
  • Placement: Ideal for use as an isolation valve before a pressure regulator or after a backflow preventer.
