EZ-FLO Coupler with Ball Valve (FPT)

Install your EZ-FLO fertilizer injector into a PVC mainline in a few straightforward steps.

Step 1: Choose Your Installation Location
Select a location on your irrigation mainline where you want to inject fertilizer — either before or after the irrigation valve. The coupler installs inline between two sections of pipe. Shut off your water supply before beginning.

Step 2: Cut the Mainline and Install the Coupler
Cut a short section out of your mainline pipe. Thread the FPT inlet of the coupler onto the upstream pipe fitting and the FPT outlet onto the downstream fitting. Use thread-seal tape (PTFE tape) on all male threads and hand-tighten, then snug with a wrench. Do not overtighten PVC fittings.

Step 3: Connect the EZ-FLO Injection Tubing
Attach the 1/4" flexible tubing from your EZ-FLO injector tank to the inlet barb on the coupler (higher pressure side) and the outlet barb (lower pressure side). Ensure the tubing is fully seated over each stainless steel barb for a leak-free connection.

Step 4: Adjust the Ball Valve for Proper Injection
Turn your water supply back on. Run the system and observe whether the EZ-FLO injector is drawing fertilizer. If flow is too low to activate the injector, partially close the ball valve to increase the pressure differential across the coupler. Adjust until the injector operates consistently.

Step 5: Set Your Dilution Rate
Use the adjustment valve on the EZ-FLO injector in combination with the ball valve setting to dial in your desired fertilizer concentration. Fill the EZ-FLO tank with your chosen water-soluble or liquid EZ-FLO fertilizer and begin fertigation.

What is the minimum flow rate needed for an EZ-FLO injector to work?
The standard minimum water flow for an EZ-FLO injector to operate is 120 gallons per hour (GPH).

However, this coupler's integrated ball valve solves that limitation: by partially closing the valve, you create additional restriction in the mainline, which increases the pressure differential between the two barb ports and forces enough flow through the injector — even at lower overall system flow rates.

What is the difference between FPT and MHT connections?
FPT stands for Female Pipe Thread (also called NPT — National Pipe Thread), which is used for threading onto rigid pipe such as PVC, copper, or steel. MHT stands for Male Hose Thread, which is the standard thread found on garden hoses and outdoor faucets.

This coupler uses FPT connections and is designed for permanent installation into a rigid pipe mainline. It is not a hose-thread product and will not connect directly to a garden hose or outdoor spigot without a pipe-to-hose adapter.

Can I install this coupler before or after the irrigation valve?
Yes — the EZ-FLO Ball Valve Coupler can be installed either before or after the irrigation valve, depending on whether you want to fertigate a single zone or multiple zones from one injector.

Installing before the valve allows one injector to serve multiple irrigation zones. Installing after the valve limits fertigation to that specific zone but gives you independent control per zone.

What size coupler should I choose?
Match the coupler size to your existing irrigation mainline pipe diameter: choose 3/4" (IEZIBV34TH) for a 3/4" mainline, or 1" (IEZIBV1TH) for a 1" mainline.

Using the correct size ensures you do not create an unwanted restriction in your mainline that could negatively affect system pressure or flow. If you are unsure of your pipe size, measure the outside diameter of your pipe.

What types of fertilizer can I use with an EZ-FLO injector and this coupler?
EZ-FLO injectors work with dry granular fertilizers, concentrated liquid fertilizers, and water-soluble powder fertilizers.
