Description

Adapt and Connect. Precision PVC Transitions.

The Dura 3/4" x 1" Reducing Male Adapter is a specialized Schedule 40 PVC fitting designed to bridge the gap between different pipe sizes and connection types. It features a 3/4" Male Pipe Thread (MIPT) on one end and a larger 1" Slip (Socket) connection on the other, allowing you to seamlessly adapt a threaded component to a larger solvent-welded pipe run.

Ideal for irrigation manifolds, pump connections, and complex system layouts, this adapter eliminates the need for multiple bushings by combining size reduction and thread adaptation into a single, compact unit. Manufactured from high-quality, chemical-resistant PVC, it ensures a durable, leak-free connection compatible with all standard PVC Fittings.

Why Choose Dura Schedule 40 PVC?
  • Seamless Adaptation: Solves two problems at once by converting connection types (Thread to Glue) and reducing pipe size (3/4" to 1") in one fitting.
  • Professional Grade: Precision molded in the USA to meet ASTM D-2466 standards, ensuring consistent sizing and reliable performance.
  • High Durability: Made from virgin PVC resin that resists corrosion, chemical damage, and degradation from soil environments.
  • Versatile Application: Perfect for cold water pressure systems, including residential irrigation, agricultural lines, and commercial plumbing.
  • NSF Certified: Approved for use with potable (drinking) water systems.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Proper installation ensures a leak-proof system for years to come.

Step 1: Prepare the Pipe
Cut your 1" PVC pipe squarely and remove any burrs. Clean the pipe end and the inside of the adapter's Slip socket with a clean rag.

Step 2: Prime and Glue
Apply PVC Primer to both surfaces to clean and soften the PVC. Then, apply PVC Cement to both the outside of the pipe and the inside of the adapter's socket. Push the fitting onto the pipe, twisting a quarter turn to spread the glue, and hold for 30 seconds.

Step 3: Prepare Threads
Wrap the 3/4" MIPT threads with Thread Seal Tape (Teflon tape). Wrap 3-4 times in a clockwise direction.

Step 4: Tighten
Screw the threaded end into your 3/4" female fitting (FIPT). Hand-tighten firmly, then use pliers or a wrench to turn it an additional 1-2 turns. Avoid overtightening, as this can crack PVC fittings.

✔ Compatibility Check

Check your sizes carefully:

  • Slip Side: 1" Slip fits OVER standard 1" Schedule 40 or 80 PVC Pipe. (Requires Glue).
  • Thread Side: 3/4" MIPT fits INTO standard 3/4" Female Pipe Threads (FIPT).
  • It will NOT fit Garden Hose Threads (GHT).
  • It is NOT for use with compressed air or gas.

Complete Your System

Ensure a successful installation with these essentials:

  • PVC Primer: Prepare the pipe surface for a strong bond.
  • PVC Glue: Required for bonding the slip connection to your pipe.
  • Thread Seal Tape: Essential for sealing the threaded MIPT connection.
  • PVC Ball Valves: Often used in conjunction with adapters to control flow in your manifolds.
