Description

Seamlessly Transition from Threads to Tubing.

The Barbed Female Adapter (also known as a Female Pipe End) is a versatile insert fitting designed to bridge the gap between rigid threaded components and flexible irrigation lines. Whether you are connecting to a PVC riser, a filter outlet, or a manifold, this adapter provides a secure point to attach your Polyethylene Tubing directly to the system.

Molded from durable Schedule 40 PVC, these irrigation fittings feature a Female Pipe Thread (FPT) on one side and a multi-ridged Insert Barb on the other. This robust construction ensures that once clamped, the tubing stays firmly in place, managing high flow rates and pressure fluctuations common in agricultural and commercial landscape applications.

Why Choose Dura Barbed Adapters?
  • Universal Thread Compatibility: The FPT connection accepts any standard Male Pipe Thread (MPT) fitting, making it compatible with widely available PVC risers, valves, and filters.
  • High-Flow Capability: The unrestricted internal bore allows for maximum water volume (GPM) to pass through to your watering zone without creating a bottleneck.
  • Commercial Durability: Crafted from high-impact Schedule 40 PVC, these fittings resist corrosion, chemical damage, and UV degradation.
  • Secure "Bite": The sharp barbs are engineered to grip the interior wall of poly tubing, preventing blow-outs when secured with a worm gear clamp.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps to create a leak-free threaded-to-barb connection.

Step 1: Seal the Threads
Apply thread seal tape to the Male threads of the riser or fitting you are connecting to. Wrap clockwise 3-5 times.

Step 2: Thread the Adapter
Screw the Barbed Female Adapter onto the taped male threads. Hand-tighten firmly, then give it an extra turn with a wrench if necessary. Do not overtighten as PVC can crack.

Step 3: Prep the Tubing
Slide a stainless steel hose clamp onto your poly tubing. If the tubing is stiff, dip the end in hot water to soften it.

Step 4: Insert and Clamp
Push the tubing onto the barbed end of the adapter until it completely covers the barbs. Slide the clamp into position (over the barbs) and tighten with a nut driver.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure your components match:

  • Thread Side: Connects to Male Pipe Threads (MPT) of the same size.
  • Barb Side: Fits Polyethylene Tubing measured by Inside Diameter (ID).
  • It will NOT connect to Female threads (requires a nipple).
  • It will NOT fit Hose Threads (GHT) like a garden spigot without an additional adapter.
