Description

Threaded Transition. Corner Reduction.

The 3/4" Socket x 1/2" FPT Reducing Elbow is a multi-tasking component that turns a 90-degree corner, reduces the line size, and adapts from pipe to threads all in one fitting. This specific configuration allows you to run a 3/4" PVC supply line and immediately transition to a 1/2" threaded riser or sprinkler head at the corner. It is one of the most efficient irrigation fittings for installing swing joints or pop-up sprinklers directly off a lateral line.

Molded from durable Schedule 40 PVC, this elbow features a solvent weld socket on the 3/4" side and clean Female Pipe Threads (FPT) on the 1/2" side. This design eliminates the need for separate bushings or adapters, creating a cleaner and more professional installation.

Why Choose Dura Reducing Elbows?
  • Streamlined Design: Combines a 90° turn, a size reduction, and a threaded adapter into a single unit, reducing the number of potential leak points.
  • Riser Ready: The 1/2" FPT outlet is the industry standard connection for funny pipe ells, swing joints, and rigid risers.
  • High Durability: Meets ASTM D-2466 standards for pressure handling, ensuring it can withstand the surges common in automated systems.
  • Chemical Resistance: PVC construction resists corrosion from soil contact and fertilizers.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Install properly to ensure threads remain intact.

Step 1: Glue the Slip Side
Clean and prime the 3/4" pipe and the elbow's socket using Purple Primer. Apply PVC Glue, insert the pipe fully, twist a quarter turn, and hold for 30 seconds.

Step 2: Prepare the Threads
Wrap the male threads of your 1/2" riser or nipple with thread seal tape. 3-4 wraps is usually sufficient.

Step 3: Connect the Threaded Side
Screw the male component into the 1/2" FPT outlet by hand until snug. Do not use glue on the threads.

Step 4: Final Tighten
Use a wrench to tighten one additional half-turn. Do not overtighten metal nipples into this plastic elbow, as it can cause the PVC to crack.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure you have the right sizes:
