Description

Adjustable Mini Sprinkler for Gardens, Containers & Landscape Beds. Built to Perform.

The Antelco Vari-Rotor Sprinkler (sold in a 5-pack) is a compact, full-circle mini sprinkler engineered for precise, adjustable irrigation in garden beds, container groupings, nurseries, and horticultural applications. Where standard fixed-output sprinklers force you to run separate zones, the Vari-Rotor's built-in adjustment valve lets you dial coverage from a tight spot watering down to 0 feet all the way out to a full 25-foot diameter — without changing nozzles or hardware. Flow is similarly adjustable, ranging from 0 to 35 GPH at the turn of a knob.

Designed around Antelco's proven 'C' Frame construction, the Vari-Rotor features a full-flow flipper suspended between two bearings for reliable rotation and excellent distribution uniformity across the entire wetted area. The frame and base are UV-stabilized acetal for long outdoor life, and the nozzle is color-coded black (0.06" max orifice) for easy identification. The 10-32 UNF threaded base installs directly into 1/4" supply tubing, mainline polyethylene tubing, rigid risers and EZ stakes, or a 1/2" threaded adapter — giving you maximum flexibility in how and where you deploy these sprinklers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the Vari-Rotor Sprinkler used for?
The Vari-Rotor is designed for micro-irrigation in garden beds, container plant groupings, landscapes, and nurseries. Its adjustable built-in valve makes it ideal for areas with mixed plant types or changing water needs — you can reduce output for drought-tolerant plants or open it up fully for thirstier specimens, all without changing hardware.

What is the coverage area?
The Vari-Rotor covers a full-circle pattern with a diameter that is continuously adjustable from 0 to 25 feet, depending on how far the built-in valve is opened and the operating pressure (15–30 PSI). At 30 PSI fully open, maximum diameter is approximately 27 feet.

What's the difference between the Vari-Rotor and the standard Rotor Spray?
The standard Rotor Spray comes in six fixed nozzle sizes (color-coded 0.035" to 0.08") with no in-line adjustment. You select the nozzle for the fixed output you need. The Vari-Rotor uses a single 0.06" max nozzle with a built-in knob valve that lets you dial flow and coverage from zero to maximum at any time — no tools, no nozzle swaps. Choose the standard Rotor Spray when you want predictable, fixed performance across a uniform zone; choose the Vari-Rotor when coverage needs vary or you want one sprinkler to serve multiple scenarios.

How does the Vari-Rotor connect to my irrigation system?
The base has a 10-32 UNF thread, which is the standard micro-irrigation thread used across Antelco and most other micro-sprinkler systems. It threads directly into 1/4" supply tubing, mainline poly tubing, rigid risers or EZ stakes, or a 1/2" threaded adapter. No special tools required.

What operating pressure does this sprinkler require?
The Vari-Rotor is designed to operate between 15 and 30 PSI, making it compatible with most low-pressure drip and micro-irrigation systems. If your supply pressure is higher than 30 PSI, use an inline pressure regulator to bring the system into range and protect the sprinkler from over-pressurization.

Does this sprinkler work with a timer?
Yes. The Vari-Rotor works with any irrigation timer that operates your supply line — battery-powered hose timers, AC-powered multi-zone controllers, or solar timers. Because this is a micro-irrigation-scale sprinkler, it pairs especially well with low-flow timers and valves.

Does it shut off completely?
Yes. The built-in valve adjusts from fully open (max flow and coverage) down to completely closed (zero flow), so individual sprinklers can be shut off without affecting the rest of the line — ideal for customizing coverage within a mixed planting zone.

What pattern does it spray?
The Vari-Rotor is a full-circle pattern only. It is not available in part-circle configurations. If you need adjustable arc coverage, consider a gear-drive rotor or an adjustable micro-spray head.

Can I use this in a greenhouse or inverted position?
The standard Vari-Rotor is intended for upright installation. Antelco makes a separate Inverted Rotor Spray™ model with a khaki-colored flipper and dust cover specifically designed for overhead greenhouse and nursery watering in an inverted position. Contact DripWorks to inquire about availability.

✔ Compatibility Check

Before you install, verify the following:

  • Thread Size: This sprinkler uses a 10-32 UNF thread. Verify your riser, stake, or tubing accepts this standard micro-irrigation thread before purchasing.
  • Operating Pressure: This sprinkler is rated for 15–30 PSI. Use an inline pressure regulator if your supply pressure exceeds 30 PSI.
  • Pattern: Full circle only. Not suitable for corners, edges, or areas where a part-circle pattern is needed.
  • Coverage: Maximum diameter is adjustable up to 25–27 feet depending on pressure. Space heads appropriately to avoid dry spots or overlapping saturation zones.
  • Flow Rate: This is a micro-irrigation sprinkler outputting 0–35 GPH. Ensure your supply line, filter, and timer are sized for low-flow micro systems — not full-sized landscape irrigation zones.

Complete Your Micro-Irrigation System

Pair your Vari-Rotor Sprinklers with these essential components for a fully functional micro-irrigation system:

  • Stakes & Risers: EZ Stakes and rigid risers in multiple heights to position your Vari-Rotor at the right height above your planting beds or containers.
  • Irrigation Tubing: 1/4" micro tubing and mainline polyethylene tubing to supply water from your main line to each sprinkler head.
  • Pressure Regulators: Keep your system within the 15–30 PSI operating range for optimal performance and long sprinkler life.
  • Inline Filters: Protect the small-orifice nozzle from clogging with a Y-filter or inline screen filter on your supply line.
  • Irrigation Timers & Controllers: Automate watering schedules with battery-operated or AC-powered timers compatible with low-flow micro-irrigation systems.
  • Other Garden Sprinklers: Browse fixed-output Rotor Spray models and other micro-sprinkler options to mix and match coverage across different zones.
