Description

Industrial Durability. Simplified Maintenance.

The Schedule 80 PVC Union Ball Valve is a heavy-duty solution for systems requiring robust flow control and regular maintenance. Distinguished by its dark gray color and thicker wall construction, this valve offers superior resistance to pressure and physical impact compared to standard Schedule 40 fittings. It features a built-in union that allows you to unscrew and remove the valve body without cutting your pipe, making it ideal for isolating pumps, fertilizer injectors, or irrigation filters.

Designed for professional and commercial applications, this valve provides a reliable quarter-turn on/off operation to stop water flow immediately. As one of our most durable irrigation fittings, the Schedule 80 Union Ball Valve ensures long-term performance even in demanding environments.

Why Choose Schedule 80?
  • Heavy-Duty Construction: Molded from Schedule 80 PVC, this valve has thicker walls than standard white PVC, providing enhanced strength and durability.
  • Easy Disassembly: The threaded union nut allows you to disconnect the valve from the line by hand, facilitating quick repairs or cleaning of downstream components.
  • Smooth Operation: Features a quarter-turn handle for rapid flow control, allowing you to isolate zones instantly.
  • Chemical Resistance: The high-quality PVC and EPDM O-rings offer excellent resistance to corrosion and mild chemicals found in agricultural fertilizers.
  • Full Flow: Designed to minimize pressure loss, ensuring your system maintains optimal flow rates.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Installation requires standard PVC solvent welding.

Step 1: Prepare Pipe and Valve
Cut your PVC pipe squarely and deburr the edges. Clean the outside of the pipe and the inside of the valve sockets (Slip ends) with a clean cloth.

Step 2: Apply Primer
Apply Purple Primer to the pipe ends and the inside of the valve sockets. This softens the PVC for a strong chemical bond.

Step 3: Glue and Connect
While the primer is wet, apply PVC Glue to the pipe and socket. Insert the pipe fully into the valve socket and twist a quarter turn to distribute the cement. Hold for 30 seconds to set.

Step 4: Tighten the Union
Ensure the union nut is hand-tightened securely. Do not use wrenches on the plastic nut as this may crack the fitting. If maintenance is needed later, simply unscrew this nut.

✔ Compatibility Check

Verify your connection type:

  • Connection Style: These valves are Slip & Threaded. Connect using PVC Glue (for slip) or Thread Seal Tape (for threaded).
  • Pipe Size: Designed to fit standard Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC pipe of the corresponding size (both schedules have the same Outer Diameter).
  • Flow Direction: Can be installed in either direction, but check the body for any flow arrows (though typically bi-directional).

Complete Your System

Ensure a professional installation with these essential tools and materials:

  • PVC Primer: Mandatory for softening the PVC before gluing.
  • PVC Glue: The solvent cement required to create a permanent weld.
  • PVC Pipe Cutter: Ensures clean, square cuts for leak-free connections.
  • Valve Box: Protect your valves and manifolds from dirt and damage.
